I basically left the punk scene behind in the early 90s and already felt that the "dancing" had become stupidly aggressive and completely macho MALE dominated. That video is nothing more than a load of horseshit justification for violence dressed up as amateur sociology analysis. It's got zero connection to music or politics, it's typical insular scene nonsense. It actually makes me very sad that is where it's at today.

The one thing that is correct, that he touches on, is how the nazi skinheads introduced this overtly violent "dancing" style. They would turn up to punk gigs in the 70s and 80s with the sole intention of causing trouble, disrupting the gig and inflicting violence on the easiest targets. It got to the point in the UK where we had AFA (Anti-Fascist Action) actively seeking out the nazis and offering them a solution in their own language, plus there was certain gigs they wouldn't dare to turn up to as it was blatantly obvious who would be the losers. All that kept them at bay for a while, but fascists don't go away that easily, they inevitably pop up elsewhere. Nowadays they don't have shaved heads, they wear suits, are billionaires and have the protection of armed security. A little more difficult to deal with than common boneheads...

@Lois Lane : yeah my mom and them use to watch it as a family every week when she was a kid. i tried when i was a kid in the early 2000's from her hyping it but it was horrible

when i was on tour though i watched all of the 70s episodes, it was so fire and i understood the hype. the 90s when Don Cornelius stopped hosting it was the start of the bullshit i was watching as a kid. i wish they had music shows like that now, i dont think it would work as well with streaming though

Thanks for your kind words. :mates:As I said, Precious Wilson was, an still is, the real deal. She was the lead vocalist behind Eruption's recordings after 1975. There was no faking it. Her abilities as a vocalist can be heard on some recordings of the All Souls Orchestra. As to her lip syncing in some concerts, and shows, that is justified and, had nothing to do with her vocal abilities. To be clear, a group like U2 will never perform twice or trice in a night but dance artists lie Eruption, and Madonna on her earlier days, are known for singing at 2 or 3 venues on the same night. If they were to sing live, they will have no voice to keep on touring. Also, some of the venues neither have the capability to handle live acts nor the budget to make it possible. Those groups achieve one hit song, and the label and management try to milk the success as fast as they possibly can because 98% of the time, there will be no follow up hit.
