I would want a super clean formant/pitch shifter that allows me to do some kind of gender swapping effect.

If anyone has any good recommendation, I would be very pleased

Although Ai voice changer can sound really good, I don't want to imitate the voice of someone else.

Having recorded with real vocals many times, I figure you want to shift a single or a single into multiple and make them sound as real as possible. Any of the above will probably work well enough.
Some people also like Melodyne or Zynaptic, find and use whatever makes you happiest with the results.

If you can sing, even if not incredibly, doing the parts yourself will probably produce better results because if you can sing, the worst flat or sharp note is likely to be within a half-step, and nearly every/any DAW can correct that without it sounding like the formant is computerized or not real. If you can afford to hire backing singers, even better as long as they're done individually. Correcting three singers doing harmonies at once, not so much.

Ohh, no no no, I just want to change a male voice to sound like a female voice.

 

Not free, but Soundtoys' Little AlterBoy is a great tool. Format shifts and other vocal fuckery.

Of course it can be pushed into very synthetic results (and that's why I love it), but subtler settings work too. Worth a shot.

 

I have never heard a convincing vocal gender swap plugin. For back vocals or little phrases, yeah it can work, but taking a male lead singer and making him sound female? Only if he has a feminine voice to begin with.

That being said, the formant shifting capabilities of Ircam - Trax are second to none.

Then yes, you need to find a pitch altering vst that works for your needs. Melodyne and Zynaptic do that too like all the other mentions, but these days, very few that are free do as much as those which are not.
Some are getting cheaper.

have a look on Audiodeluxe for sales if you wish to buy anything audio related. If you stay on top of it, and visit regularly, they have random flash sales as much as 90% off, there's one vst now as an example but it is not pitch oriented. You may find what you need inexpensively, eventually.

Save a lot and get Vocoflex, I guess. Other than that, AI is the only way to go but there are obviously issues (as in, you need to become someone)
