    Hello all. I really like the Lindell 80 channel strip for its gate. However, when trying to automate it, I realized it's very buggy and unreliable. Does anyone know a gate plugin as powerful as that one that could be normally automated? I tried ReaGate, but couldn't come close to the same sound...

    Polyverse Gatekeeper. I more often use this as an effect, because the Noise Gate in Logic is simple and perfect how it is. I also like to sidechain Logic's gate to my kick track and Logic's test oscillator to add sub to the kick. Gatekeeper is way beyond that simple stuff.

    Fabfilter Pro-G is the in-between option for me. You probably already have it.

    The decisive trick is to set ReaGate Attack to 0, Hold to ~ 100, Release to ~130 and RMS size to 0ms.
    If the last one is higher, it's not responding to peak.

    I wonder if it's because I'm automating 8 parameters at once, 4 in the VCA and 4 in the gate section. I'm drawing 8 ramps to get from A to B (a very loose sound to a very tight sound), but it just jumps from ultra loud to ultra quiet very sharply if I let it run from the beginning to the end of the automation ramp — whereas if I play the final part and come back a few bars, then the automation responds differently. (I have checked every automation item and found no likely culprit.)

    But yeah, I made an I-statement about ReaGate because I used to diss Reasamplomatic 5k and have recently learned that it is indeed one of the best samplers around! Thanks for the examples.

    Are the knobs responding accordingly?
    Keep in mind, the gate comes after the compresor (strangely), so with critical settings and compressor gain, it might produce strange results.

    You mean graphically on the UI? Yes. What bugs me is that I've never managed to get such a wide range of loose–tight hats with another plugin. But I'm running some tests with the DC8C from Klanghelm and getting some interesting (albeit different) results. Now I need to master ReaGate, or try Pro-G, which I wasn't even aware of...
