Use a free temporary number provider, there are a lot of online services that offer free receive only SMS

If you're looking for email providers that don’t require a phone number to create an account, some options include ProtonMail and Tutanota. Both offer secure email services without requiring a phone number for registration. However, keep in mind that some providers may still ask for a phone number as an optional recovery option or for added security.

I have also used that service, but gave up using it because I waited and waited but never received an SMS.
    I wonder why? :dunno:

Pretty much all of those free use SMS either do not work or they aren't accepted by the service you're trying to use. They're bogus at this point. Same for the temp phone number usage. None of the sites that offer one time or single perm/temp email accounts that require a phone number will accept one time/single use phone numbers...

    TutaMail looks promising though...

I have used this in the past, it's free (but there will be other people using the services at the same time as you)

Proton recently ramped up blocking incoming registration/sign up/verification emails from other websites on new unverified accounts to "fight back against spam and maintain integrity", and require a phone number to lift the block..

Sometimes you can squeeze in 1 or 2 registrations if you're really fast after creating your account, but as of recent they lock down almost immediately and prevent emails coming through..

On top of that, my main (but unverified) account of years was recently disabled for abuse and fraud, despite being clean, and requires a phone number/credit card verification to lift.. I also noticed in the past year or 2 more and more emails were not passing through to my inbox from various websites. So I believe big tech has kind of forced their hand, and I expect an apology/defeat type blog post some time soon on why they have changed their sign up model to now require a phone number. (this is speculation)

Some sites have been known to block free SMS providers

    I see.
So you are saying that the situations in which it can be used are limited....
