I was wondering if anybody could help me identify the sound design from some classic early 80s dance records.

#1 Gladys Knight & The Pips - "Save The Over Time (For Me) Extended Version" (Release Date 1983):

There is a synthesizer instrument that plays the ascending notes D, E, and F# multiple times in the intro of this song, at 3 seconds in, 7 seconds in, and 12 seconds in. You can also here it do some additional short stab notes at 15 seconds in.

The sound, though not identical, reminds me a lot of the sound of...

#2 Central Line - "Walking Into Sunshine" (Release Date 1981):

The sound I'm referring to comes in right at the top of this record. Not the bass line or the guitar counter part, but the main upfront synth or key instrument playing the ascending C to D riff.

Both records came out within 2 years of each other. I get so curious if there was a particular synth or sound design approach that yields this timbre. I can hear there is some tasteful and musical delay/reverb applied, but I'm curious if any of the afficionados can enlighten me as to what synthesizers and sound design could produce this effect.

    Thanks in advance!

I also want to say that, being a massive fan of the synthesizers of Gladys Knight's "Visions" album, I'm curious if anybody has insight into what synthesizers in genereal were used on the tracks "Save The Overtime" and "When You're Far Away"? From the bass lines to various ear candy, there's a lot of great stuff within!
