I usually don't do movies by years.

a good movie is a good movie, its better to search for good movies. one day you will learn, you don't have enough time in your life to watch all the movies, hear all the music etc.

at this point you scrape away the crap, and narrow your search to the best of any time, any type, any genre.
the best is worth rewatching, relistening, re-enjoying.

The crap just falls away.

I try to do 7 stars or better, but if its some director or star I follow I'll watch a 6.5, and there are some films that are truly great, that people just don't get or were badly marketed, whatever and they get like a 6.1. - by following the directors and understanding how film works, you can even enjoy, what may be crap to someone else.

don't limit yourself to geographic locations or genres. There are great Korean films, Japanese, French, Italian etc.

gets 6.5 stars, its a great movie. you might not like the ending, but you'll love the ride.

look at 1939, it was magic.
