I am wanting a new reverb processor, was in doubt between the Valhalla Room and Lexicon PCM Native, never tested any of them, but I heard good of both ... I wonder which one is better considering the sound quality, processing (I have a weak processor ...), practicality, etc.

PS. I'm asking because I do not like installing and uninstalling programs, I've had enough problems on my old pc for it...

 

I LOVE Lexicon stuff. I have vintage and modded and classic Lexicon racks thats just butter up some sounds. Ive used Lexicon plugins and they are good, but i LOVE the real racks. But ive tried various reverbs and i still like Lexicon the best (reverberate, altiverb, Native Instruments RC series [based off lexicon], and others).

 

Lexicon hands down...unless you're buying it in which case Valhalla since it's a fuck of a lot cheaper and it's also the better choice since their protection isn't a complete misnomer. Both great reverbs, you can't really go wrong.

Depending on the usage Lexicon​

I personally would avoid Valhalla on Percussive instruments but away from that its a nice well priced reverb​

There is NO 1 fix all Reverb. ​

 

Both are great, that's for sure but I'd rather go for Breverb by Overloud which is, in my opinion, a great compromise.
Then second, the Native Instrument's RC series.

I use Lexicon PCM for my reverbs. It comes with 6 (?) plugs in the suite, but so far, I've only really used Room and Hall (though I've messed with all of them), set up on two auxiliary tracks and using sends. I've been chopping about 200 Hz off the low end with a high-pass Q, because they do have a decent low end, but 200 seems like a bit much and I'll probably be scaling back a bit. I've also liked IK Multimedia's CSR, the NI RC reverbs (which may be too bright) and, if you can track it down, DUY's Z-Room.

 

The L in Lexicon stands for lush.

 

I suggest you to read that thread on gearslutz. The audio files aren't available anymore but that ist the best discussion i ever followed referring to reverbs. During the discussion all developpers of the great reverbs (lexicon, bricasti, valhalla etc) dropped in and participated in the discussion. I never had su much fun reading a discussion and never did learn so much about reverbs. Valhalla seems to be the "chorus" thing

I think Valhalla is better than Lexicon. Sounds deeper, more realistic, purer, cleaner, spacey. Lexicon sounds very good, but Valhalla is a winner. Absolutely!

One thing you really should put stock into on a warez site, if the users are endorsing a product that is 1/40 of the price of another product...and they are BOTH available as warez...

That speaks volumes.

But, that being said, try all the verbs and formulate your own opinion.

I have both, and personally prefer the Valhalla stuff. Great modern gui, once I learned my way around it, haven't even opened up the Lexicon stuff… The Lex stuff IS good, and I like Breverb as well, but the Valhalla Vintage Verb, Room, etc… $50, and the designer is constantly updating/studying/active… Very little I haven't been able to accomplish with the stuff… but of course, reverb is highly subjective, and how you want to use it. But you can demo the Valhalla stuff and see for yourself...

 

+1 and trust me, 4get valahalla for your stuff. Alternative: D16 Toraverb.

 

Why all the love for Algorithmic reverbs? Convolution reverb with a massive library of IR impulses all the way. People have even recorded IR samples from real hardware such as the Lexicon 480L available for free here: http://www.resoundsound.com/4-impulse-response-reverb-packs/

This specific Lexicon IR sample sounds remarkably like the hardware unit which can be confirmed by Googling about it.

Just throwing this out here since I feel like the OP feels like he's limited to those two options. The processing power on Convolution reverbs is definitely a lot more but most have options to run in a low-processing mode. Just make sure you're doing your basic 101 routing i.e. have a reverb bus and use track sends instead of a reverb placed on every track.
