I read the article. The question Im posing. Why is it ok for one form of hacking to be ok and another to not be ok in your mind?

They both are causing malice in some form. Hacking has existed well before AI and well before technology.

Also humans to do malicious things and always will. They also do amazing things and always will. Technology of all forms and titles have made that possible. A spear can help us survive but it can also kill our neighbor. We can split an atom and power millions but split one and kill millions.

Easy peezy - seeing you got an A.I. to make a calendar that perhaps you may or may not be able to code yourself, that's neither here nor there, most hackers in their original form only ever did it to see how something worked. do not confuse hacking with warez. Hacking only becomes warez when it is shared. Another idiom - GAMES - how many major gaming companies have used the Unreal engine and hacked it to pieces for their own ends? Too many to list.

Phishing, ransomware and similar malicious forms of what is now called hacking, well, if you think this is a good thing, then maybe rethink your stance because innocent people get hurt, not just businesses and corporations. You did say you read all of it after all :)

You cannot just look at one aspect of it. I find it quite incredulous that you are in many ways because you're certainly not stupid.

The A.I. you are ignoring the flip side on, ask the coder if they ever hacked anything to see how it worked. If he or she said no, I'd call them a liar.

EDIT - P.S - Phishing, ransomware and similar malicious forms of what is now called hacking I do not consider true hacking. It's more like cyber extortion. Hackers just copped the flak from the dishonest ones which reinforces both of our points. The good gets tarnished with the same brush because of the bad.
Nonetheless, you cannot ignore the bad. That's plain dangerous to do that.

Cool by me. On all you said. Really not trying to keep it going.

The calendar thing is a pet project on another forum post That doesn’t involve this topic. Just sharing with people who might not have deep coding skills but creative ideas for something that there are tools to do that.

I also helped create http://tryreplay.io and Http://weights.gg too. I know a bit of coding I also know a bit of guitar too. But I’m better at using a Kontakt library of a guitar patch to convey what’s in my mind.

Don't get me wrong, but that's a little naive. The only ones not making money out of R2R releases are R2R themselves, don't forget that they exepect from you that you try before you buy. The scene makes money from releases. The sister site makes money indirectly from releases, even if they are not selling it. It's not Bezzos type money but it's money nonetheless. Servers, hosting and moderation has to be paid in some form.

Releases takes the hard work of people and give it for ads money, upload service money or just plain money. It's piracy. We are not the good guys here. So all these debates around AI tech in this forum, is like, yeah, let's discuss around the angels' genitalia as long as it amuses us but... c'mon.

Going a layer deep into the AI tech is going on it's unavoidable politics, the agents involved and the correlation of forces. And because that's against forum rules we keep circling around the finger that point to the moon instead cause debating about the moon herself is not allowed.

It's wonderful that opinions vary because life would be so boring. I am pretty sure R2R clearly says something like "Don't make money from it support the good developer". They even frown on people who do make money from their releases.

If people decrypt someone's product and sell it like they own it, it is not the same as giving it away without the slightest charge. To me that's just obvious, not naive. While it is my choice, I make money from a lot of my work so my upbringing and conscience do not allow me to use something a lot for free. If I know I will use it a lot and possibly make money from it, I buy it. But that's me. I do not expect anyone else to feel the same because we all have to live life on our own terms. But naive? At my age, definitely not.

That's great. It's good for the soul. I have been playing, writing and orchestrating for a substantially long time. I am totally comfortable on any platform, acoustic, analog or digital, with or without computers, sequences and/or samples, romplers etc etc. That suffices.
    Cheers

You as a user pay for everything, your provider, your hardware, operating system, services, etc. Since the billionaires rarely give you anything from their immense wealth, R2R is the answer, they give something for free and when they have a little more money left over, they are politely asked to support developers.

The Internet should bring more knowledge and prosperity to the world for everyone. The big capitalists did a huge business, it also created new jobs. R2R and other teams ensure a small balance so that poor people also benefit from technological progress.

Those who have no money are left out? The crackers also offer graphic design and other tools so that poorer people can earn some extra money.

They wouldn't be able to afford this software without the cracker teams. If the rich gave the poorer people more money, we wouldn't need cracker teams.

And then the political debate begins. I'm totally on your side, don't get me wrong, and the only real problem I see on disruptive technologies and the inequality they bring to the world are un-unionized workers. I'm in an union since my teens, pays regulary it's cuota even if I don't need it, I've colaborated in multiples "resistance boxes" all my life. But if we need to relay on people like R2R to bring balance, well, we are pretty much fucked.

    Hello comrade @Demloc!

Yes, exactly, like here in the forum, we're at least networked and can (still) exchange ideas. As long as those down there don't get smart, educate themselves and get together, little will change. Most people hang out alone at home on their PCs and that's called isolation or the individual. As a society, we're actually atomized or, to put it mildly, defragmented.

I am also a union member and a big fan of cooperatives and self-managed companies. Of course, rights are still fought for and enforced through strikes. Of course, you don't have to buy products from big companies or pay for their services.

Warren Buffet once said: we, the rich class, are waging war against the poor, but we won this war long ago. R2R, V.R, Team Air: You take what you get, we have no choice but to exchange things with each other via the Internet or use free open source and freeware.

Nobody knows who they will arrest next or which platform will disappear.
