It may depend on how much you're willing to spend in money, body and soul.

This method doesn't work either. Even if you spend your whole life in music, you still can't become a professional.:shalom:

In my opinion, a normal person without any experience, IF you have the chance to work in a pro studio as an assistant everyday full time AND really mix everyday you can acquire PRO skills in more or less 4 to 5 years.

a bird learns to sing the same day its pops out of the shell, by the next day its singing for its supper.
Truly professional and one could say born to the career.

We could learn a lot by observing the world around us..

    Requirements for an audio engineer

In addition to a passion for music, the following points are prerequisites for becoming an audio engineer:

    - A good ear
    - An interest in music
    - Technical understanding
    - Willingness to put up with irregular working hours and overtime
    - Resistance to stress
    - Communication skills
    - Solution-oriented thinking
    - Constant willingness to learn

Training as an audio engineer - a broad field

We have of course summarized the most important differences in all audio engineer training and degree courses. They all differ in terms of ...

    - Admission requirements (secondary school leaving certificate vs. university entrance qualification)
    - Duration of training (12 to 70 months)
    - Training focus (purely technical vs. technical-musical)
    - Organization (state university vs. private educational institution)
    - Costs (tuition fees according to federal state vs. varying training fees)
    - Degrees (diploma / B.A. / M.A. vs. certificate / certificate of participation)
    - Working environment and cooperation with other professions
    . Classroom or distance learning

so it always starts with having a pair of ears, and then finesse it from there.
as with many things in life, it is not the goal that becomes the life, but the path to the goal, often the goal changes, but the path goes on forever (if you do it right).

Van Gogh said, "to know life, love many things" - this is important to understand. only by caring can you pursue a passion, without a passion there is no drive, no desire, no chance of struggling through the ordinary to find the special.

Love music, love sound, love creation so much you spend each day pursuing it, learning it,consuming it, being consumed by it.

else why bother and just become a chartered accountant..

Be careful of that cyclone passing over your head at great speed..

What does it work based on then? Please do tell me how a human being should interpret the notes entering their auditory system.

Oh, thanks again, dear Maestro of the Infinite Music Equation! But let’s cut to the chase: if music is such an unsolvable equation that even quantum computers can’t crack it, and if spending a lifetime (plus money, body, and soul) still doesn’t make someone a professional, then what’s your secret formula? Do we need to sacrifice a goat to Brian Ferneyhough, recite twelve-tone mantras under a full moon? Or perhaps we should all just abandon our instruments and start composing by throwing darts at a board labeled 'avant-garde techniques'? Maybe the real equation is just: E = MC² (Ego = Music Complexity × ²).

But seriously, doc, since you're clearly placing yourself in a position of privileged speech, enlighten us mere mortals: what’s your step-by-step guide to becoming a professional in the world of music? Should we all just give up on melody, rhythm, and audience appeal and start composing in frequencies only dogs can hear? Or is it necessary to decipher an enigma as complex as discovering where the three pyramids of Egypt pointed (coordinates) and why they needed to be arranged that way when they were built in order to become a true professional?

So, we’re all ears (or at least, those of us who haven’t transcended the need for auditory perception). Please, share your divine wisdom, preferably in a way that doesn’t require a PhD in "Advanced Pedantry" to understand!
