It was only one (not joking)

And yeah, my first install of Windows 95 was with floppies too. That was a mess
I first installed Linux at my home PC in 1997. That was flat and straight masochism :rofl:

I mean it eventually paid off big time once working. But I was close to losing it. And my family and some neighbors heard a piece of it...

my first encounter with linux/unix environment was Xenex, which was a multiuser o/s we ran something like 20 simulataneous users off of 1 80386 computer, using a couple multiport serial cards for the local terminals and 4 modems for dialup users.

It was interesting to see that with a character based operating system, you could do so much more than with a graphical desktop environment.

It was alot of time with 2 terminals at my desk so I could kill programs on one from the other when things locked up. a lot of time killing print programs that someone ran with the wrong parameters and it would be like 300 pages of green bar paper...

it was a good time for learning before the Microsoft obfuscation infused everything and confused everyone with each "next big thing" vapourware that never appeared but made people wait who were thinking of buying something similiar.. MS was masters at destroying all other software companies (and a few hardware companies as well)
