    Whilst most definitely never a hair-metal guy, Tygers of Pan Tang was a band that I had some musical respect for. The same goes for Thin Lizzy (can't deny Phil Lynnot's talent as a songwriter). John Sykes playing in Thin Lizzy's "Cold Sweat" sparked a huge wave of interest due to his prominent use of pinch harmonics and tapping. Every young guitarist at the time attempted to learn it, most failed, myself included. I only knew one guy who played it fluently (with ease, at 16yo) - to this day that guy is still the most gifted player I've ever had the pleasure of knowing/working with, and I've known a few...
