Nobody taught me how to write songs, it is and was a survival instinct.

I would love to see you learn Chinese without any help, using only your instincts...

AI is not the problem. The richest 1% is...

How'd you learn to understand English as a baby/toddler? (If you grew up in an English speaking household)

It's called A-U-T-O-M-A-T-I-O-N my friend. Putting a computer in place of a human to do some repetitive simple task is NOT "AI". The machines/code that are doing those tasks you mention are about as far from true AI as it gets. Maybe do a bit of research on what true AI really is.

Yes, you are right, I mixed up the terms. You know what I meant, the tech companies are enslaving us and already now, and whoever falls asleep wakes up in a digital prison. The term artificial intelligence is a made-up name from an American advertising agency. In reality, it is called artificial stupidity (AS).

You know people who have moved to another country have learned just by being around it. But Mandarin and Cantonese? Possibly not. One, perhaps. That is exposure & instinct.

What does the future look like?

If creators don’t figure out how to use AI, it will use them. It will take their content and repurpose it for others’ requests. As LLMs improve, there will be less need for copywriters, authors, screenwriters and analysts. It will be harder and harder to sell knowledge.

After all, how can you sell knowledge when ChatGPT knows everything?

There will be a tipping point where the quality of output from an LLM is so fantastic that people are simply not going to need online courses, books or other content laboriously and imperfectly created by humans. Information will be presented in a more engaging way than podcasts, television shows or even real-life conversations.

At some point within the next few years, you’ll be able to ask an AI program to, “create an engaging 9-minute video that summarises the key points of the American Revolution to entertain a 14-year-old with an IQ of 112.” The video will be created in seconds, without scriptwriters, artists, camera operators or editors. No teacher is required for delivery.

If you don’t use AI, it will use you. It’s already stealing your content, so steal it back.

Build the chatbot that impresses your audience. Be the genius in someone’s pocket. Use the tools to expand your reach and help more people, not slowly disappear and wonder how you could have stopped it.

ART-AI developers are not that smart. Don't worry. Even if 1000 years pass, they can't do anything. They have some fast hardware. That's it.

Art is like politics, and AI is like hardware. Having hardware doesn't mean being equipped with politics. You can try what I'm saying. Some people on this forum may have powerful hardware and fancy studios, but the songs they make are not defendable.

The thing is, people are worried that artificial intelligence steals their achievements. I don't think there's anything to worry about. Because either we're not making enough good stuff that AI developers would be tempted to steal, or we're making so many weird things that AI can't analyze.

If you remember, in the cartoon Robin Hood, he was taking money from the king. Now, which one of us can claim to be the king of music?

One of the top three CheatGPT Ay-Yaays could get access to my acquaintances recently published book sold on Amazon and build a review of it based on the book's entire content..

Though not directly related to Karl's economic politics or AI, I think there should be at least a handful of copies of Kropotkin's The Conquest Of Bread in every place that has a collection of books, from schools to prisons, and then pray to absent gods that people get smart. I think it's one of my really good ideas... least, not my worst one by a long ways.

Yeah its not perfect today. But thats like saying a Roland 808 doesnt sound like a real drummer. It created new genres. also was a babystep toward things like addictive drums, EZ Drummer etc.

Finally, that's the REAL point !

We should fight monopolists (both "institutional" or commercial), not technologies!

The whole AI thing is going to be a wild ride for human artists, if you ask me.

It won't be cool for long when AI platforms start gathering everything they can find and then create videos with music and actors out of it.

Honestly, traditional copyright isn't going to work like it used to because courts won't want to deal with hundreds of thousands of lawsuits.

It's kind of scary knowing your music could end up in some AI video and you can do pretty much nothing about it and you don't even know where to start legally.

Making money will get way harder for lesser-known artists.

I call AI both a curse and a blessing in one sentence..

What bothers me most in these discussions about AI - is that it has been used as a subject, not as an object.
AI is this, AI is doing that...that obscures who is actually behind and responsible for it.

    - AI does not have (yet) free will !!!, so...

    - it does not generate songs, pictures, information nor publish them at will...
    - it is just doing what humans made them for - and asking it to do it...
    - therefore it cannot be blamed for what it does.

Everything has a pro and a con - if you choose one of them, you leave half behind - that makes you unable to see the whole.
