how is this 1176ln any different than the normal 1176ln?? cause i am watching some pics and remembering from a friend that had the plugin with the hardware, and it has the same buttons (also, there is like 5 different 1176 compressors lol)

 

Seems to not have "Expanded controls for Headroom, Mix, and custom Sidechain Filter for reduced LF pumping".
And it is only one of the 3 revisions. I don't really understand taking the time to complain about a free plugin, even if it is not the "$300" version.

 

I quoted their own words from the web advert. Not making it up. As far as to what exactly the disabled stuff is, I have no idea and don't really care...

Looks like you need their installer UAConnect and iLok installed for this to work, can anyone confirm?

 

1176 compression if for boomers and nerds! real producers use OTT.

 

You need to install UAConnect to download the 1176, but you don't need ILok to use it.

Wow nice thanks for posting that. Got yet another (free) 1176, and UA just popped updates for all of my shit just now too.

Tons of productions have been made with this compressor... and many more will be in the future

 

I like the skin on this better than their real 1176ln skin lol

I just installed it. Working fine as good as any other 1176. Uses 0.4% more cpu than waves. Btw the previous Pure plate and the tube channel strip also showed up to install.

 

probably the added digital stuff is disabled imo, so the essence of the compressors probably remains

Same deal as their free LA2A from a while back. I don't get the point of having to maintain an entire separate plugin (bug fixes, compatibility) instead of just giving away the actual plugin you can pay money for, all to gatekeep some very basic functions you can still do with extra steps.

I just don't like the overall attitude of these companies. Also, having to install UA Connect for a free plugin is a big enough downside to just skip this. Meh.

 

Very few things are ever really "free", and installing their plugin manager app is the price. It's probably for the same reason why the software you get for their interfaces installs every plugin's installer. They are hoping some people will make impulse purchases. Obviously it works, or other companies would not do the same thing. It's an excuse to spam their email lists.
