That's right I was astonished how it works easy and clean, the camtasia embedded screen capture is slow

Use Asio Link Pro, or Voicemeeter (I replaced this with ALP, much better) then you can record any stream, asio or not.

 

I understand your point of view, but I'm afraid they won't upgrade, ASIO is a consolidated standard since many years, so forget it.
This also for many other sw, it seems they're afraid of ASIO.

While ALP is a bit complicated at first, you can route almost anything in anything, and being multiclient you can use all different streams in shared mode.

You can backup the partition/system, then try it and if it doesn't fit restore the partition.

I usually do like this when I want to try something "important".

 

For real ? can you capture the same asio output of the daw directly ? That would be huge

 

OBS is pretty simple.

Open OBS > Click + in the sources panel > Click 'Display Capture' and thats it. Press 'Start Recording' to record. You can also choose Window capture if you want to record a specific program/window

Go to setting > output if you want to change the quality.

 

In case someone would want to record certain video services online that some people pay for (but you should do not that, if its not legal ;))
do not forget that in chrome for example it may seem like it's not working cause it records just black screen in a lot of cases. However, a way to solve this is to turn off GPU acceleration in chrome

1. Open Chrome and click on the menu icon (three dots) in the upper-right corner.
   
   
2. Go to Settings by clicking on it or typing chrome://settings in the address bar and pressing Enter.
   
   
3. Scroll down and click on Advanced to view more options.
   
   
4. Find the System section and look for the setting "Use hardware acceleration when available".
   
   
5. Turn off the switch by clicking the toggle next to the setting.
   
   
6. Click on Relaunch to apply the changes.
   

You can confirm the changes by typing chrome://gpu in the address bar and pressing Enter. If hardware acceleration is disabled, you should see 'Software only, hardware acceleration disabled' under 'Graphics Feature Status.'

I'll be damned, color me surprised as well. Well done, OBS developers.

I think the reason most screen recorders doesn't support ASIO is just because the market is relatively small.

The exact way I use it. I create my mix or track or whatever (audio only) then I go back into Ableton, and copy the screen (the actual mix playing) then I go back in and merge the two.
