Thank you brother for that post, your patience, time and everything. :mates:

I'm really open minded as far OS goes, I have been using Windows 8.1 the most, why, because nobody could convince that thing doesn't work great on my hardware and I had same setups with both 7 and 10. Same thing with macOS, last 3 versions I was first day adopter, now there's nothing really to gain and I'm out, my machine just isn't cut out for newest and shiniest. I will probably do my own testing with both 10 and 11 and close that chapter based on my personal experience, same as I did with 8.1, "worst OS since Vista" according to many people, best experience I had with Windows in my world, rock solid.

I think the failure (and strength) of windows 8 - was touch, it was designed for a touch screen the Metro interface was clunky buttons, which are great for fingers but less enticing for the mice and touchpad folks. I've used windows 7 with a touch screen and its okay, but i'm sure 8 was better. I may have to install it on one of my touchscreen laptops and see what Its like. I've used xp and 7 with touch computers (often with a stylus as they aren't very precise)..

If it works for you. use it or as Alice Cooper said, "love it to death"....

its best to remember at the end of the day technology is supposed to be all about making life easier, not making more money for monster corporations by running at a heart attack pace on an endless treadmill slowly grinding you faster into dust....

Yeah, at the end of the day, I just want best OS for my hardware, it's fucking sad I got so little run on this M1, Sequoia is made for M3's and seems like last great OS for it was the one it was shipped with, Monterey, but at least with Apple hardware, we all use same damn hardware, so it's just collecting info with tons of people that keep testing on the same thing, but with PC's, yeah, trust me bro, 11 is the shit, trust me bro 10 is the best, trust me bro 7 works the best, but we all use totally different hardware with it, you just need to do your own testing on your own hardware and decide what is worth sticking to.

Same with iPhones, you just need to stop updating until you got 2 years out of it, it's just not iOS for your phone, but next thing, it goes in fucking circles, but damn developers stop supporting your apps and you are there picking next supported thing, I had 4 until recently, then 5, then 7, now I have 12, I'm seriously thinking to go back to old Nokia 7210 and call it a day...

I keep thinking about whether I'll need a smartphone in a few years' time, although there's actually no obligation to have a smartphone. I have a newer Nokia phone so that I can enter the security code for PayPal and call the troubleshooting center if my modem crashes again. The battery is replaceable.

Windows 8 original release was bad, but Windows 8.1 fixed most of the problems imo. I ran 8.1 on a bunch of family PCs and it was fine for the most part. Windows 7 with a fresh coat of paint. But Windows 8 marks the beginning of Microsoft's unrelenting ADHD - start on something, insist everyone blindly follow, never finish the thing, replace the thing with another barely-just-begun thing next Windows release (Metro, UWP, touch, mobile, WinJS, ...).

The use of the CIA invented term "conspiracy theory" to discredit questions about the ridiculous magic bullet theory about JFKs murder, makes me wonder, if you are capable of autonomous thinking, but here's my question:

I have hundreds of entries in folders and subfolders in my start-menu. It contains links to manuals of plugins, important links to pdfs on my computer about composition, or dozens of shortcuts to little but essential programs and tools, I have collected over more than 20 years, for all kinds of tasks, and these shortcuts contain a short description, what this program is for.
    One start menu example:
    folder Audio - subfolder Surround-Encoding: xrecode - AC3 correct level extraction & AC3&DTS encoding

Removing the start menu in Win11 by the Indian reminds me about Google and why the search results of Google have become sh.t: the responsible Indian justified it, that way: people have to spend more time browsing the advertisements now. No joke. That's 3rd world work ethics and if not reversed, will lead to the downfall of the US company jewels.

The sound of the impact explosions are coming closer: first the headphone amps, then the electric cars ($ 10k plus a working full self driving mode for free VS $ 8k to buy a not really working "FSD" for a $ 60k Tesla...) and recently the amazing deepseek-engine, while Alibaba claims, to have an even more efficient one.

So my simple question is this:
If Win11 is installed, can in the meanwhile the start menu from Win10 be preserved, or is still everything lost?
