One of the greatest composers of 20th century.
His way to include Japanese culture into modern composition is unique.

Gomeifuku wo oinori itashi-masu Masuta Ryuichi Sakamoto.

One of the earliest pioneers of Electronic Music... :dj:

His use of Roland VP-03 in the song "Behind the mask" is perhaps the most brilliant use of Vocoder in a popular song and brought the use of vocoder in mainstream is later covered by innumerable Top artists..

Followed his YMO colleague drummer Takahashi too soon..

    RIP

    Fuck. This one really hurts.
One of (IMHO) the most beautiful pieces of music in the known universe.

    RIP, bro.

I've been listening to B-2 Unit again lately. Still sounds like nothing else. A great musical talent.

He was a talented musician and graduated from an elite music college, but he was not particularly interested in classical music, and paved the way for electronic, experimental and avant-garde music, which were not yet common at the time. He's a magnificent musician.
Despite his thorough education in classical music, he chose to develop a new genre of music. He is a very rare figure.

    Rest In Peace......

He was originally a favorite composer, but recently he's been listening to his songs again.
    I'll post some.

    This was his early work.
It's also great that he is co-starring with the other members of YMO.

His works are truly beautiful when played on the piano.

Incidentally, the official spelling of his name is "Sakamoto Ryuichi", not "Ryuichi Sakamoto". (The same goes for "Takahashi Yukihiro")
In his country, the surname comes first and the first name last.
When mourning someone, I think you can gain a deeper understanding if you also learn about the culture and traditions of the person's country of origin.
I think this is important for creators.

Very sad, I knew of him despite not making my favorites genres. Probably with that famous OST.

It's true that in Japan they say the surname first but that doesn't affect anything as a Japanese musician.
If we follow that rule we should write in Japanese because Ryuichi Sakamoto is just how it sounds his name in English. And we should include the honorific which perhaps would be Sakamoto-dono.

I've seen this thread back in the Audiosex Feed List, so I'd like to share this video (bad quality) of Ryuichi and David Sylvian during Brilliant Trees recording sessions in Berlin.

I have heard many of his compositions in my life, but I did not know who the author was, now that it's too late, I know R.I.P.
