I was playing with Spitfire Labs because they released some newer packs recently. I was just messing around with this one in particular. I have a great ear for sound, and memorization and I could swear to you I have heard this sound in a movie. I'm thinking that the first sound was either from one of The Conjuring movie series or either the Insidious series. The others could very well have been used too, if that's not exactly the right sound it's pretty damn close. Any of you ever heard a sound and you know exactly what linrary, patch or preset it come from? Also Does anyone know what Kontakt strings pack was used to score those films? I really want Threnody Strings by Sonuscore, those are freaking amazing. Speaking of The Conjuring series the new movie The Conjuring 4: Last Rites is set to be relased soon, and this is said to be the final film of the series. I went back and listened to the Threnody strings demo and I can almost guarantee you that's what was used in those film scores.

It's actually pretty cool to catch it, like yo I've heard this exact sound before.

The Conjuring (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the score album to the 2013 film The Conjuring directed by James Wan.[1] The film score is composed by Joseph Bishara, whom he had previously collaborated with Wan on Insidious (2011). The score was recorded at the Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage in Warner Bros., Burbank, Signature Sound Studios, San Diego and Capitol Studios, Los Angeles. La-La Land Records and WaterTower Music released the soundtrack on July 16, 2013.

I was wrong, they actually recorded real instuments and articulations for the movie scores. However, I bet using Threnody Strings you could make nearly identical. I could tell the same was used in Indidious it's alot of the same sounds and articulations just in other octaves and pitch.

I've had it happened to me, like i've been testing libraries and all of a sudden "waaaait a minute, isn't that the sound from (insert media title)?". The one that struck me the most was on a soundtrack for a videogame called Mass effect, here's the track:

That flute thingy (shakuhashi) appears on a library called Symphobia (would post a video, but nobody seems to pay much attention to that patch specifically), and are actually samples of entire phrases rather than a playable instrument, so that makes more confident about it being the exact same sample. Now, the weird thing is that the game came out on 2007 and the library on 2008 apparently, so....Idk, i'm not obsessive enough to dig any deeper, but it was pretty cool to find those sounds on a kontakt library.

Right, that's pretty damn cool that your ear has the ability to say hey I know this, and then you find it on a Kontakt library or a preset or sample. Ah Symphobia from ProjectSAM awesome libraries, that whole collection is nice.

I've actually never played Mass Effect but that wooden flute I'm assuming it is, sounds amazing.

I recognized sound of the alien's blood dripping in the film Alien as exactly the same sound as me shitting in my pants there in the movie house when the alien's face comes towards Sigourney Weaver when I first saw it back in 1979!

First We Feast's 'Hot Ones', uses a piece of music from 1989s Batman. It's a piece of music played on strings with a bow. It's either double-bass or cello. Whatever it is exactly, the approximate five seconds of instrumentation is iconic to my ears. I grew up obsessively watching that film.

Can you post an example? I was also in heavy ”Batman fever” in 1989, like everyone else, but can’t indentify these :)

One semi-famous example the other way ’round (movie samples in music) is Nine Inch Nails’ iconic 1994 industrial banger ”Reptile”. The intro has space sounds from the movie Leviathan (1989), and the mechanic servo sounds in the main groove are from Aliens (1986), when Ripley uses the power loader. One of the members then, Chris Vrenna, was sitting in a room sampling laserdiscs and these ended up there.
