i know what you mean, so many online courses are kinda meh. i found some good songwriting tips in "The Craft of Lyric Writing" by Sheila Davis. got it from z-library.sk – it’s free, so worth checking out.

Find a professional songwriter and lock him in the basement of your house for a year and tell him that the key to your freedom is to sit down and make 100 songs with me. This is the only way you can learn the best techniques as quickly as possible. Otherwise, you cannot learn the real secrets and techniques of songwriting from books. Other methods of learning to write songs are very time-consuming and have no guarantee. Writing songs is a private work and no one teaches anyone else, and the only way is to forcefully learn from someone.:dunno:

to be honest i would rather just learn to write for myself song texts. And so far i start to get happy, with the inspiration I get from moments. And with the chordpro program i found a way to write them down for me. ofc it can be a long way from the inspiration to the actual song in audio, but i mean its alright for me to try around, to have fun, to explore and to grow.

I know nobody can teach this really, its just habits or methods, which can help and thats why i like the tutorial i have found above by the front man from One Republic, he is really honest about it and he really gives a deep glimpse into how to get inspired (he shows multiple ways in fact) and then keep on working even if the steps might be hard or its gibberish you are recording, if you keep working through you get somewhere.

It really inspired me also to listen to all kind of pop songs, EDM songs and sing the lyrics, even vibe to it and aswell understand chord progressions and song structures. Its really that simple, boot up your DAW, drop a song in and start listening!

Many famous songwriters and artists or those in big music industries prefer to take what they have learned to the grave but not teach it to anyone. Unfortunately, history shows the same. How many people do you know who have reached high levels in songwriting and the music industry and have taught their secrets to others?

There are two types of learning:
1- One is when you learn all the secrets from the idea stage to the final stage directly from someone.
2- The second is to add to your learning indirectly from listening to songs. This method is similar to disassembly in software cracking. Very time consuming and inefficient. Most people have no choice but to use this one. Because really, accessing very famous writers and artists is like finding a drop of water in a dry, grassless desert.

    i found this quote here:

"A good song embodies the feelings of the [people], and a songwriter is not much more than a mirror which reflects those feelings. If i can manage to put into words and music the feeling of the kid from Pudunk and the one from Bowery ... then i will have something."
    By Irving Berlin

And i think this nails it.

Thats from the book by Sheila Davis - The Craft of Lyics writing, which was mentioned above.
