Corp-Speak on how to make your use of a computer known to every CEO on the planet. Does anyone want to lay some cash on a bet that every one of the points on that list is secretly just corporate b.s.? Then there's the "ChatGPT" element to the puzzle. The mechanism that sends what it wants about you to a cloud based information store. Apple claims that "there are things that simply just can't be done without intervention from servers on "the cloud"... This is the same double-talk, corp-speak Adobe corporation uses to convince dupes into thinking their local machines aren't powerful enough for "iterative fills" so it must be a function that is carried over to the Adobe cloud. Complete horse-puckey. It's simply a rouse to charge $$ for a "service" that puts a steady stream of data between you and adobe corporate.

All of us that have been using computers for more than a minute know how cloud based computing is NOT your friend just as the corporations who are running it are not your friend. They want info, demographics, feedback data, and telemetry on your usage habits, and likes and dislikes so they can push you ad's. Their R&D departments don't have to do much to do their jobs with ready made feedback data. It also keeps their bottom lines well in the black by selling demographic, and user PII and preference data to the highest bidder on the backend. They are so bold now they don't even ask you for permission to use this data, they just take it. THIS is cloud based computing.

 

and they will target anyone who exposes them too, I never liked Mac, I mentioned before that they create a illusion that real computing or real audio engineering daws are man based only, this is in correct!

 

I've left that AI stuff off - its a monitoring tool. no thanks. I can think for myself.

 

I believe the Apple users will be crawling back to Windows in a short time as they find out Apple never made their products with the users privacy or work environment in mind....It was all a massive sleight of hand making them feel superior while the ultimate goal was to watch, authorize only what Apple deems legal on their machines.....

 

Move to Linux guys Apple has been sinking for a while now it's coming to the surface stop funding this scrupulous agenda. Stand up for your rights and your privacy.

its funny that anyone thinks this wont be the norm for every electronic device / app in a few years. Soon every app will demand internet connection to be used, and all of them will come with less than ideal data collection.

 

I agree. The OP should move to an operating system made by anyone other than Apple, for any computer other than a Mac.

 

Agreed. However there is also the very concerning issue on the PC side about the windows OS's where with every single new iteration they are locking it down more and more while increasing the injection of more garbage-ware and telemetry rabble. The PC side has been trying to lean in the direction of apple with the "TPM" and now the paid subscription update policy for EOL systems. The software subscription model is the most lame and insidious of all attempts at bowling over the last bastion of internet privacy left to the average user. On the windows side the built-in "defender" does a fair job of blanket "inappropriate" software deletions on it's own trying to mimic the apple side. Luckily for the PC side the industry can't agree on which day it is let alone come together in a united consortium to make PC hardware "OEM compliant" like the apple side. It is this lack of organization that has saved the PC side from the same fate as apple - at least for the time being.

While I agree with that notion, there is the very real fact that *NIX's are just not supported enough in the media industry to make that leap complete. There are a few dev's that code stuff for *NIX as a novelty, but by and far the majority of quality software able to be run to get media production work accomplished in a timely manner exists on the MS or Apple side. When I sit down to start a media project the OS should be a transparent medium in the course of the workflow. Many times this is NOT the case with *NIX's. You spend more time fiddling with the OS in many instances which disrupts the creative process and only serves to frustrate. I have looked into the *NIX option and it just didn't serve my needs for an OS being a transparent vehicle in busy production setting.

 

So you're still running Windows 95/98/XP then?? Because that same kind of shit is all over Win 11 nowadays and its only going to get worse..

 

Well there's Windows mods like Ghost Spectre for ppl that can't find themselves in Linux. It's like Windows lite without the garbage.

I use multiple os's, macOS mostly for audio work. And I'm planning on neutering any ai in a future update when I do it until I understand what is going on and I can make decisions regarding that for myself. I'm certainly not under any spell, nor would I in that case be crawling back to anything that would be better for 'me' as I understand it right now.

 

Just to clarify, the lite and super lite images (not all of which are created equal) while having much less out of the box crap-ware to deal with are still in need of much tweaking and reverse engineering to make them safe to use on the internet. It's all on the end user to make the things as safe as possible. Using a super-lite image will certainly make your job as an end user easier than starting with a OEM image.

 

it won't be a great business plan when I can already let my AI do (my) things, let them collect my artificial data and screw themselves

...that said, as long as you stay away from making apps and technology indispensable in your life, only then you can keep some bits of freedom

 

I don't think so (yet), as Apple Intelligence functions worse most of all the other third-party AI things you can run on Apple Silicon Mac nowadays offline
