fun part is, he thinks music should be like video games, more interactive and enjoyable, and expects people pay for it, in a way video game industry being bigger than music industry...
....as if pc gaming piracy wasn't a thing or AI stealing copyrighted content was fair use

Yeah more interactive as in, waiting for an AI to turn your text into a sound file for 10 mins+.

“It’s not really enjoyable to make music now […] It takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you need to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software. I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of the time they spend making music.”

Throw your instruments away and start writing really long prompts.

Ordering food is about enjoying the food, not the cooking. His reasoning leads to the music maker becoming more of a listener (consumer).

    Why is that?

A large proportion of our fellow human beings have already become depressed and lazy.
It's easier to turn on the TV and switch off thinking.

The entertainment industry is destroying your creativity, pull the ripcord, put on the brakes and save yourself.
Turn off your smartphone and turn on your brain and go out into nature and look at the stars instead of at your smartphone

tbh ofc it would be nice to write music as good as artist X, but most of the music producers, artists, enjoy the process ...

i think AI music will always remain soulless - building on ideas of others ... might be good for the dumb mainstream (where he gets his money from) but maybe not even close for the people who really enjoy music.

Can i write it? He can fk off.

yes music should be interactive, but in a DAW, not with an app doing everything.

The ordering of food can actually be both in my experience. An example would be going to a restaurant for the taste as well as the presentation in addition of knowing that the Chef's reputation of using the very freshest ingredients and novel ingredient combining plus the clay oven handbuilt by the Chef to cook all that yummy food.

The Suno guy already had me wanting to punch him in the face from the beginning when he said " i 'd like to think we 're not making music, we 're making musicians"... Sure mate, the next Stevie Wonder will be a Suno "prompter" lol. And the -so called- interviewer a lil later quotes his saying that "music should be more like video games" as fascinating, wtf. Meh to both of them.
    Just meh.

I have this close friend who is a pro painter artist. He specializes in making caricature portraits and experts say he has a unique style. I am definitely not an expert, i just enjoy my friend's artwork and i am happy he has a somewhat worldwide recognition. His "life size" Johnny Cash is displayed on the Johnny Cash museum in the US. A few days ago and while we were sipping early afternoon coffee, he got a Google notification that some AI had snatched/modeled his work without his authorization and prompting him if he wanted to block the whatever user or not. So guys, just be ready to get ripped off, coming soon in your screens, phones and whatnot hahaha. An example of my friend's work:

Haha, based on the signature I looked up more of his work and it's great! In the ones on his Instagram, he captures the celebrities as if you were photographing them through some uneven fish-eye lens from the weirdest angles, it's not even a standard caricature. It's unrealistic and realistic at the same time. At the same time, it's a little disheartening to see talented people have to deal with stupid shit like that nowadays

“I am utterly disgusted, If you really want to make this stuff, you can go ahead and do it, but I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself. I feel like we are nearing the end of times. We humans are losing faith in ourselves.”

'We humans are losing faith in ourselves"

Wise words. I'd even go as far as to say we're losing faith in ourselves and putting it all into money. CEOs aren't creating those technologies to "further improve human life" or whatever they'd have you believe; they're just using it to consolidate their power and keep getting richer.

this is genuinely funny turn of events,
in last century, TV was the GOAT, then computers and internet boomed and everyone became obsessed with streaming, youtube and on-demand shizz, few years later now, people want something played without doing any effort or user activity, it's not a coincidence youtube no longer shows enthusiast channels/subscriptions and prioritizes big "safe" channels generating TV-like boring content where they can throw in shitload of ads without compromising advertisers lol

    Psychopathic AI bros smh.

I and many musicians do find the music making process enjoyable. If you don't find making music enjoyable, then just leave it to the people who find it enjoyable.

Absolutely. That WatchMojo bullcrap of a channel has 25+mil subs lol. All their content is based on clickbait titles and controversial or flat out wrong information, drawn/generated from "only God" (or should i say AI?) knows which sources. Especially the ones that are about music, something which i can say i have an opinion, are so terrible and lifeless to the point of vomit. They even fail to be so bad that they can be funny.
Yes on both. I can sum his whole speech in two words. Alarmingly disturbing.
But hey. Why should we expect more sense, intuition, feel and artistic insight from a guy who shamelessly admits that they 're coming from a generative text background! He just doesn't get what music art is about and the power he can ultimately yield with his platform is potentially very dangerous. Somebody put a leash on those motherfucking rabid dogs please. They smelled the money and next moment they come pretending they give a fuck about evolving the world of music hahaha.
Just pay the musicians/authors/writers/performers/whatever with each prompt click that generates a music file and fuck off. Your AI based its models on existing copyrighted released music. We need transparency through and through if this continues freely with no proper authoritarian oversight. When, how, who and which tracks exactly did your AI based each generated file on please. And then generate a percentage for those peeps you modeled their music. Because:
Mickey Shulman (and all the others like you, i.e. the UDIO platform), you are NOT entitled to model for free anything from our labor you silly, petty example of a human being and more over make money out of it and laugh behind our backs with your fully erroneous perception of what music is and who is what etc. Fuck you yesterday.
We 're not sleeping moron, we are wide awake towards all directions. Why don't you let someone like Rick Beato interview you, not that kissass puppet of a reporter. But hey, life might be a bitch but so has it that sooner or later, you will face the consequences.
And guys excuse me for the rant and swearing. But the more i listen to the guy speaking the more pissed i get.
    Y'all be well.

Also, enjoyment is not the final goal of all art; some artists will suffer greatly (fine tuning envelopes for instance ), aiming at a good result, wherein lies the satisfaction. Moreover, enjoyment of the process isn't the same for everyone; some will like it as easy and light as possible, but many truly enjoy the hard work. This guy's stance is like telling someone 'Oh, crossword puzzles aren't enjoyable! You should always check the answers on the back and just copy them. Then you'll enjoy yourself!'
