I haven't seen an update to this topic since 2021 so I figured I'd ask what you all use to manage your sample packs etc. I've been opening the packs and dragging to Windows Media Player but surely theres an easier way to view and listen to your samples?

xyplorer im using, it can play all sorts of audio files when you run over the file with the cursor. Its just a file browser with media support. Files can be moved into folders due to double pane setup.

Its for me the faster way, nothing else works better.

Folder can then be important into the DAW.

That's exactly what I need a mouseover without having to open each sample.

Tried several options over the years, sample librarian, the ADSR Sample Manager, an early version of the resonic, sononym, samplesort, i have XYPlorer as my main driver for browsing files and does the job fine for previewing samples but not so much organizing. The best sample librarian is Loopcloud by far!!!

I agree with the last comment. Loopcloud, offline with your own libraries and previewable in real time in any DAW with the plugin. Great for happy accidents

Loopcloud, no contest. I haven't even opened my DAW's sample browser since I installed LC.

I've given up trying to find a sample manager that I can live with. The closest one was COSMOS by Waves of all the companies, but it's clunky.

So I just use Ableton's browser, a sensible naming scheme (for me anyways), and the similarity search.

https://loopcloud.com/ - Tried them all. Loopcloud is the best hands down! Browsing samples and midi in key and in time. as well as sample chops while browsing.

    other contenders and use cases:

Sononym - using their algo to search similar samples. - https://www.sononym.net/
Samplism - great for mac.. has a good tagging and organizing system - https://audiohelperproject.com/products/samplism/
ASDR Sample Manager - good plugin version of a sample browser. good for hitting the random button - https://www.adsrsounds.com/product/...AtTfY1HBkByZgOoAcsw0GRjBZrhOABX3kxtBi3tYibAxe

i use my brain to sort the files in the normal categories, when i prepare a sample folder for a project.
simply Kicks, perc, hats, crashes, FX, tonal, this works fine for me.
Of course its not fine if you hoard 1,000,000+ files. But who would want so many files anyway?
