Looking for a guitar plugin for live use. Requirements -
- Needs to be lightweight, low CPU use
- Couple of usable/nice amp sims
- Ability to load IRs
- Basic FX rack (compressor, EQ, reverb, delay)
- Tuner
- Able to automate preset changes in DAW

In your experience, which is the most low-CPU guitar plugin that satisfies all / most of this criteria. Please share people.

+1 on TH-U, suuuuuuuuuuuuper light weight, sounds great, choke full of effects, tuner, IRs, etc...
It's essentially a Kemper in software form with great profiles already included.

Roland Boss Gt8, uses no CPU cycles, never need recharging, won't get text messages, has no bluetooth issues, and it won't get a phone call in the middle of your set.

AuroraDSP Rhino comes pretty close, you'll have to use your DAW's preset mechanism to automate that part though.

Latest Amplitube 5 works perfectly fine on win7

 

But there is tons of better multieffects with ampsims that are much easyer to program have much better routing and not a fixed signal chain.
And sounds way better and more importantly more authentic.

 

yes, the idea was to introduce the theme, that a device designed from the ground up to be a portable guitar fx system is much better, than a computer for live performance.
The gt-8 holds the iconic image of an FX machine, a chariot for a guitar god, awaiting his touch to bring it to life. It stirs the soul..

 

FWIW, Overloud TH-U Essentials is free at the moment.

 

TH-U is very cpu efficient (but I personally hate the workflow, and for live use the workfow is important cuz you sometimes have to access things quickly). I am still on Amplitube 4 (or my Zoom G3X).
