hmmm. yeah, not feeling the vibe of the OP on this one... have used atmosphere then omni then omni2, and had minimal issues with activating it. no issues to speak of running it, and have done all the updates that have come down since the latest. you need a fast machine to run a lot of the audio ware these days and O2 is not exempt from that group. I will admit the hacktivation can be a little daunting if one does not read and follow the directions very carefully.

Someone mentioned contacting spectrasonics support for an R2R omniphere issue.. I would re-think that one before acting on it, but that's just me.

 

Yes, there are (Pre-activated) Moria releases and they all work great. But I haven't seen Moria releases for the very latest versions of Spectrasonics? I've only seen that R2R has a keygen for all the very latest versions (Omnisphere, Keyscape and Trilian).

One thing to remember: with the R2R activation is that you need your machine ID. Once you have it, it won't change on that particular machine. So best to save it for the next activation.

Another: Sometimes the activation can fail multiple times. If your Machine ID and key are accepted but it returns with the activation screen on the next start? just keep on entering the information. Sometimes you'll even need to do this 3 or 4 times before it will accept it and load normally.

As far as people mentioned ' slow loading'? It all depends on how many data a particular preset needs to load? Just like any other VST that loads its data from an extensive sound library. The 'creative patches' in Keyscape can take the longest to load. On the other hand. Most synth patches in Omnisphere load like within a few seconds for me. So I can't agree with anyone that says Omnisphere is slow?

It seems some people think they are entitled to get support on cracked software? Like the OP started "I own the R2R release of Omnisphere".

I always wonder? Are they really this ignorant or do they really think that stuff like this is free and entitles them to get full support from the vendor?

 

You misread. That was in response to yabiss who has a purchased version and is a legitimate owner. Contacting Spectrasonics support was recommended to solve an issue with legitimate authorization.

 

You're reading too much into that one. "Owns" is being used as a synonym for "in the possession of" here. Semantic minutia, as even legit "owners" of the software are just licensing it, and don't "own" it.

I've never had any issues with Omnisphere. I'm on a Ryzen 9 though.

My legit Omnisphere 2 runs perfectly on Mac. Yes, it is a heavy plugin compared to some others I use. It is a little lag when I open the first instance of it into Logic. After that, it runs similarly to other big synth plugins. Any problems I have ever had with it, I caused myself.

I doubt the problem is with the Moria release mentioned above, even. Way too many people use them.

 

I'm convinced that there is something big in the make at Spectrasonics...

All you have to is to delete the "zmap.index" file
Once you delete it after running Omnisphere it's going to rebuild this file based on your libraries factory+3rd party

 

Never had issues using Legit version of OM2 on both Windows and Mac.
Works like a charm, depending of course on what patches you are using and their built Fxs

 

There are so many discussions here about software that is too slow!
At first, Omni is a Data Monster like some other Synth.
That something like this does not run smoothly on hardware technology from 10 years ago,
should be clear to everyone.
8 cores min and 32gb ram are already necessary, if you want to have fun.
But, the biggest problem is the developers and the online compulsion that is spreading like a Virus !!!
A studio or music PC should not have to be connected to the Internet 24 hours a day.
However, if this is not the case, more than 50% of the software no longer works.
I own a lot of licenses myself, but I still use the same software from R2R.
The reason is relatively simple, just take Arturia as an example.
The kings of useless data and online compulsion.
Most programs run much faster when there is no physical Internet connection and firewall.
For example, get a DeLock RJ45 2-port manual bidirectional Gigalan network switch and turn your Firewall OFF.
Mod your "hosts" file and you are happy. Or build something yourself, there are enough instructions on the internet.
The reason for R2R and other groups is simple, the software does not phone home!!!
The licenses are in my cupboard or shelf, but I can now work properly.
Especially now that 70% of all performance problems have disappeared as if by magic ???
No hours of stressful phone calls with manufacturers for offline licenses that don't work anyway,
or armies of f*** dongle`s fighting each other sitting in a giant usb hub.
There were days when I would have rather worked on my PC with a sledgehammer than making music.
Which brings us back to analog hardware, which unfortunately is hardly affordable or fake analog like some well-known manufacturers have been doing for years. A VSTi in a wooden box is now an analog synth, of course.
I could go on for hours about this topic, but it's useless.
If there wasn't all this bullsh***, nobody would need groups like R2R.
Oh sorry, but we need them to test the 4637th clone of a super dooper EQ or console Compressor.
Better than the last one, even more functions, even more precise etc. etc. etc. etc.
Once a song is mixed, with all the components, no one will hear what equipment you used anyway.

To be clear, I have legit, r2r, and moria. Never had stability issues with either on intel mac, M1 Mac, Intel laptop, AMD desktop. I sync the libraries between them using a NAS and still have no issues with the added complexity. All Windows PCs are using 64GB of RAM and SATA SSD for sound libraries. My lowest spec is is the M1 mac which is equivalent to 6 core latop cpu. It's ram is 16GB. No issues running even 8 instances of omni in addition to 8+ Kontakt 6 instances.

One must consider own computer configuration when there is a problem with the software. If you are using a dual core or low TDP quad core, then maybe the CPU-intensive features will be noticed.

Keep in mind that Spectrasonics has focused mostly on stability than new features, which makes it one of themost resilient software on the market....so popular for its reliability that some sync music companies are asking composers to stop using it (because the sounds are so prevalent). That truly speaks to is popularity and preference among the "successful" composer. Dr. Dre has been using since it was called Atmosphere, before the rest of us even knew about it..

 

legit O2 user here too, I never had issues with official activation, not even on Apple Silicon some time ago, but I did have issues with installations because provided original USB stick card apparently has way shorter lifespan than previous original 8 DVDs lolz - luckily I had complete legit installers fully backed up on network storage,
with all that said, I wouldn't buy Omnisphere 2 nowadays, life goes on and although there aren't any direct alternatives, I'd simply look for something different by now

 

Legal Omnisphere owner here - my PC is only a Ryzen5 and O2 works flawlessly. It takes a while to load in Reaper, but after that changing presets etc is fast. If I use all 8 parts of a single instance of O2 my CPU use is rarely over 20%. I am not aware of a single bug in Omnisphere. And the coolest thing is, Spectrasonics are still improving and updating it after all these years. O2 is still the most amazing instrument I have ever owned. And I never ha any issue with authorizing O2.
