Does anyone know how you can run Empirical Labs plugins on Windows 7? Theoretically it is possible, because the system requirements says Windows 7 is supported, but when I try to install Arousor, it gives this error:



The support told me about to write something into the registry gut it did not help.

 

This is not win

This is not windows 7 related. This is a path issue, a path is logical link to transfer data. Ie c:\ is a logical path, "My Documents" is a link to a logical path.

your installer is telling you it can't find a resource it needs to complete its action. It would appear you are missing some data or program bits for the installation to complete. you may have a bad download, verify that it is complete. if it is an .exe it may be a self-extracting zip file, you may be able to extract it to a folder and verify it is complete.

you may also have to set an environmental variable to the location of the install folder, that may have been what your support person was trying to do, you may fucked up the syntax and the variable is not properly set.

Are you installing to your c:\ drive? is c:\ your normal boot drive or do you boot off of another letter like f:\?

you're going to have supply some details of your system setup and available drive space.

but its not a Windows 7 issue, its just a basic computer system issue....

 

I downloaded the installer, and I get this error message. I asked the support, they said that this error message was reported by many, and they gave some information to modify a line in regedit but it does not work. I thought this is because of that the plugin is no more focused on Windows 7 but they still wanted to make it available, but it is missing some important element from Win 10. Maybe a false assumption. But anyway, I will ask about it in a plugins topic then.

GoldWave v7.01 it also works too but requires VxKex.

 

I'm a bit confused on Vxkex forks.

You suggested aqua vision fork, but it seems it's stuck on november while the supposed "official" i486 it's more recent so I tested it, it asks for a win update (KB2670838 called the evil update - maybe optional?) but even without it seems to work fine.

BTW for me BOTH trigger av on dll, but that was something previously seen.

From description the fork adds just few games, so I preferred to have the "official" updated version.
You still on aqua or?

@orbitbooster I use Aqua-Vision fork, because I'm sure about this version, but there is already a new official version from dotexe1337, I haven't tested this yet.

@orbitbooster Since these applications are being developed, they are probably all based on the same source code, and probably have different compatibility
I use this version which seems right to me, it is clean from malware, and works.

We decided to extend support for ESR 115 on Windows 7-8.1 and macOS 10.12-10.14 to September 2025. We will re-evaluate this decision in August 2025.

 

And after that? I read somewhere that with vxkex works any version.

 

I'm pretty sure that if Firefox does stop working, somebody else is gonna pick up the torch and continue applying the necessary fixes in a fork.

Its the only one that works for me on win 7 Firefox v115.20.0esr it say it is updated.
I used to have Opera but that stopped working i also has a very old version of Chrome installed luckilly it doesnt get updated as i use it to translate the russian torrent website

 

I have tried to update to win 10 but i havent succeded i guess its because my graphic card is to old and doesnt match the requirement win 10 has..
Its an old Nvidea GT610 silent with 1Gb memory.

@Guitarmaniac64 I am not able to test everything, but one thing im sure, if you run your DAW with VxKex, you will probably be able to run most of those plugins you mentioned.
