Yeah, that ain't good or can't be good @Auen Fred ....

Those f'ing tech bros at Francisco Partners... chainsaw them.

It's certainly not the "beginning of the end", as it started once they got their cocaine fueled hands on NI, and started sucking up others... of which to my knowledge, no products became 'better', nothing became better, and if anything, a lot of beloved products became essentially abandoned ware... ( don't be waiting for the update to Reaktor or whatnot... we know what happened to Absynth, and DX8 and others are fast following.... and man, Kontakt's interface and operational use has taken a damn nosedive veering and spiraling to the bottom lowest common denominator... and that sucks..)

All these companies coming under those as$holes?

yeah, if anyone thinks this is a good thing, I'd love to hear their argument on that. ;)

    merry christmas everybody.

This is OLD news!!! Native Instruments already started this take over back in 2021.
We are going to see a lot of this sort of thing in the coming years - companies buying each other up.
A large part of the industry is in crisis, so the bigger eats the smaller - that's it.

    agreed. don't get me started.

At least those coke heads at Francisco tech bros will probably keep at least ~most~ or a lot of it somewhat functioning (however bad it gets) as opposed to completely closing it all down ala what Gibson did to Opcode and Oberheim... and to this day I'm still quite angry about that...

The system doesn't make mistakes - it's the mistake

They should have thought up a different business model, for example every Gibson customer gets a share in the company. And if the company doesn't make much sales, everyone sits down together and thinks of solutions, if necessary, cooperative members can give their own companies interest-free loans. Or everyone makes a donation and save their own company.

This broad response has little to do really with what we are talking about, or referring to... outside of some wide or tangential statement on... well, kinda a whole pile of everything..

And without going down either an ontological rabbit hole here, or wasting everyones time in explaining in deep detail the events that occurred... we are talking about events that occurred ~25+ to 30 years ago in regards to the once (and should be historically) esteemed Opcode, and of course, Oberheim...

And yes, boardrooms and shareholders, and all that, hell,...and not withstanding... if you have an issue with the "system", well.. yeah, ok. ..sure. I guess that's a wide target and ocean wide broad topic in which I'm sure I'd agree with you on so many points to the end of the day and more on what or whatever... but in this instance...whatever that comment it, it's just kinda just swinging at the broad side of the barn with a banjo thing for the most part....

I was just specifically responding to what I considered a salient point/quip @bluerover said in regards to what has historically happened when Gibson has entered the building.... as it hasn't been good...

Large parts of NI sold to investor from the tech sector January 22, 2021

Was Native Instruments' Traktor DJ division sold to Allen & Heath? The rumor from last year could have been confirmed. Such a step would certainly have been good for the DJ division at NI, but unfortunately it has not been confirmed. The latest information from Native Instruments suggests that the sale of the DJ division to Allen & Heath will no longer take place. A large part of the Berlin-based company Native Instruments has been sold, or is being sold.

The previous owners of the majority of the company, the investor EMH Partners, who acquired shares in NI for around 50 million euros in 2017 and invested again in 2020, and the founders of the company as additional shareholders together with the new investor, Francisco Partners, have apparently agreed on this.

According to Business Wire, EMH Partners, the founders of the company and other shareholders only retain a small share of the company. Francisco Partners, the new “owner” of NI, is a global investment

ok, I have no idea what you are talking or going on about, or I'll write it off as perhaps some 'holiday cheer' imbibment induced some accusations or whatnot....

as all I said was, or was commenting in agreement with another fellow user in @bluerover here, is that Gibson have a poor history of shutting down historically great product lines over the last few decades.. and it has been painful for many.

If that warrants a personal attack on 'myself', or perhaps a hazy fist waving at the clouds regarding all of society... hey, it's not me to say... but apparently it stirred you to, and I'm not gonna get in your way. I don't care.

You can settle down, as sure, while I've been here a minute longer than you have, and generally know how things flow here, and how comments can be misread, and over reacted to in many ways ... I get it. people get worked up lol.

bottom line I can live with: I'm certainly not telling people how to think, or trying to move the discussion back 25 years at all, let alone 'dominate the discourse'.... nor am I 'ignorant' I imagine, nor know it all, and I don't think I should be asked by a new user who is a little unhinged at the moment to log off a site I have been contributing to and for and whatnot long time.

I was talking to @bluerover and to the others that would catch the reference and know the history.

If you were bothered by what I would take as a generally polite response attempting to give clarity or perspective on said situation, or an attempt to give focus to a perhaps a confusion of what I was talking about (with another user) in regards to a 'response' you made, (in which I honestly said I would probably agree to your general 'world view' on how these things can happen etc). ...well, if it triggered you in a way that bothered or insulted you in this manner.. . my apologies. As certainly not my intent.

I absolutely bear no ill will lol, and despite your ill wishes towards myself, I personally wish you a merry christmas and a happy holidays.

and I absolutely wish friendly greetings sincerely to ALL users of this site.

German companies are failing lately. There is an - perhaps unexpected - cultural crisis happening at their industry. Losing ground in many sectors.

yeah, that was a little bit of late ninja editing for sure... oh well, it was quoted in my response above ^, so it's there for context of this conversation...

Not sure why Radio went the way they did, but whatever, all good... everyone has their days, or misunderstandings and whatnot. I'm not throwing any stones here...

But generally, over the history of this site, it's common practice or decorum that most kinda admit that, or at least 'semi-apologize' for ranting unhinged without provocation, or in this case, literally wishing ill will upon other users etc  ...

is what it is. and you saw it. and no biggie... as my feelings aren't hurt, nor are yours I imagine...

and I'm not racing to log off this site or cancel my activity here... as I have been active here for well over a decade, and actually quite a bit longer then says in user info as there was some 'reset' for some reason back in 2014 or whatever... (not that any of that any maintenance alignment or whatever, or time length really matters ffs nor should),

but on this site, on which I have met, or have many friends, or people I like, or appreciate, like yourself... and found so many people willing to help others, and the effort being that we all simply try and do what we can in that spirit. well, I don't know, all I do know is that I'm not going to terminate my account or experience here on the advice or instruction of someone who has been here for less time, or certainly less consequence of merit then sadly some of my current backlog of laundry... whatever..

Sometimes @Auen Fred , hey, we all make mistakes, or sometimes rashly type some nonsense that one would rather put the bullet back in the gun on, and I generally get that, as I know I'm not telling you anything you don't know here on this... and I've done so myself... and apologized.. not only to the specific party involved, but to the moderators here who have to sort through our nonsense at times... as their job can suck as thankless and extremely time consuming with a site that is global and houses many different perspectives...

but those that understand, I would think, or do so with any 'class', or basic recognition of such, as opposed to those that do not possess self awareness or hide behind things like completely editing posts or comments after the fact, ... well, sigh.. you kinda get a glimpse or shortcut to understand the character and makeup of who or what you are dealing with going forward you know?

It just makes it easier ultimately to cut the wheat from the chaff.

best to you my man. and to all. and I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays, and those that are not, please understand you got friends (even if strangers) around if you need to reach out. :mates:
