No, it hasn't. It's completely meaningless. You need to somehow test every single DSP function in the DAW and then say it does.

Yet again, we are talking raw, naked audio tracks recorded straight in and played straight back. No shit sherlock, if you start processing it all then YES it's going to add the DAW's flavor. Try to keep up here.

"Gee guys how come this track over here doesnt sound like the copy over here I time stretched and ran through a saturator?"

Right, the only, er, debate, going on here is as explained. A single track recorded through the same interface to multiple daws will not sound different (all things being equal), no one is saying or claiming anything about daws being able to null once their different workflows/features/different fx/pdc perhaps/pan law/warping, etc etc... as obviously once you start pulling your sleeves up, and addressing sound, they are all going to diverge. Of course different daws may have a "sound" depending on the tools used and the workflow and whatnot that wouldn't be the same on another, and that's not in debate. And honestly, I think anyone who knows their tools and what they are doing (or even not!) can make fine/great mixes in all of the mentioned.

In this particular instance given by the other gentleman above as explained, PT or Ableton or Reaper or Logic or Cubase or any neutral daw is not going to sound punchier or wider or deeper or handle transients, impart frequencies differently on playback etc.. not at all... I've tested this myself or sniffed around it over the many years, and I routinely send tracks back and forth to people, and outside of the scientific explanations and demonstrations shown exhaustively and having read or breezed through the thousands of pages of conversation devoted to this on this site and the many others in this niche, I certainly have never subjectively heard a single track I recorded in Live or Ableton as laid out, imported it into PT, and said, "Wow, now that's where it's at!" kinda thing. As it isn't a thing. :)

As I stated, completely meaningless. You can type until you are blue in the face about it. You want to compare 2 cars and say they are the same as long as they never leave the garage. :)

    Useless discussion.

If all the DAWS tested against each other result in a null signal represented by the number (a place holder actually) 0, I can only assume that those that can hear a difference have also discovered that each 0 as read is not also the same, each having a slight difference in it's graphic representation even if it is ever so slightly. Erg0...0 from this point forward does not, shall not and never will again equal 0.

As a result of this thread I have started a Go Fund Me to monetize my newly found mental illness which this thread has so beautifully exposed. I hope that you all donate either on a monthly basis or at least whatever you can as one time gift. Anything at all is gratefully appreciated.

    Respect,

    Lois

So you're saying you're going to be able to tell the difference between a PT bounce and a Reaper bounce of the same material under these conditions? If I send you an "A.WAV" and a "B.WAV" (one from each DAW) then you're going to be able to reliably tell them apart in a blindtest?

If he/she can do so consistently, I will either a. eat cat food for a week, or b. send $100USD to the charity of their choosing with receipt.

They can't. They just type. And as @clone said, this is a useless discussion, in addition to being so tired and stupid on so many levels.

(but I would love to get the contact for that users drug dealer, as apparently whatever they are dolling out is quite potent...), or, rather, I could blame the education system worldwide.... or direct @Lois Lane 's proposed gofundme to that users continued education, rehab, or mental health provision.

Not unless you use some coloring plugins or built in saturation like heat, even then it would be almost impossible to tell the difference, DAW's do not have a "sound". If someone uses a specific DAW, I think they project their own sense of sound onto it, almost like a placebo effect.......IMHO

It's all good, when I tell people that I was abducted by aliens when I was 5 years old I get the same reaction! :mates:Most don't believe me but it matters not. Your experience is yours in the realm of DAW differences. Pick and work with the best that you hear.
