O/S is Windows 10.
DAW: Reaper (latest)

This is driving me nuts, cause I have never been able to use Neutron 5 at all.

I get this splash screen within the VST that takes focus, so to speak, but I can't do anything to close it. If I increase the window, the VST UI doesn't change (so that just adds more blank space). I can't hit escape to close this because that closes the FX window in Reaper... enter / space don't do anything.

Any ideas what to do?

I assume this is a first time install splash screen that will probably go away once OKed the first time.

Here is exactly what I see no matter how big/small the FX window is. clicking anywhere in it does nothing.

 

on other site, it shows 650 completed downloads of this release. Not a single question, complaint or anything. If that popup is a "Modal", did you try to kill it? Try hitting Alt+F4. Or Escape.

The nfo file shows this is only a VST3 and AAX release. Also in the nfo file, there are a few comments about Windows registry. Is there something about your system which is different than others?

"The original installer adds Track-Assistant path to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. However, we found Neutron5 tries reading from HKEY_CURRENT_USER. This leads TrackAssistant crashing. Our installer adds path to both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_ USER to solve the issue."

Did you have a previous version? The R2R version should really be working ok. Did you also try the VR release? What about another DAW or Wave Editor?

 

Try the Alt + Tab function and see if that helps. It may help you select a the window with options other than your current one, where you can hit enter.

 

Yah I wasn't suspecting the release to be faulty. I don't know what it could be on my machine though. Just looking for other ideas as I've tried several things.

That little splash screen isn't a modal window, at least, it is fully enclosed within the FX Window of Reaper, so alt-tabbing doesn't help.. escape just closes that whole FX window. Alt-F4 would shut down Reaper, and Ctrl-F4 would just shut the FX window down (like escape).

I did see this in the NFO and had looked and did see these registry entries.

All I have is Neutron 4 (which works). I'm not sure who released that, so maybe I'll try uninstalling that and see what happens. For Neutron 5, I've never installed anything other than this exact release I'm having problems with. Reaper lets you install multiple (portable) versions of itself, so I'm going to try that, or try on another computer.

Will be a bit on that, but I'll post back here, in case I'm not the only one that has this trouble between now and the death of the this forum

 

OK finaaaaally got it figured. So in Reaper, I double clicked on the plugin name to open it up in a separate window (still looked crappy, however). I then hit the + button and selected "Send all keyboard input to plug-in". At that point, escape no longer closed the window, and escaped out of whatever hell window I was stuck in. LOL


BTW, interestingly enough, their Izotope 11 release works perfectly fine for me, no problems.. but I see people in that thread talking about the same exact problem I had with Neutron. Weird.
