I'm not a huge fan of iLok either, but there are more egregious crimes in the world to rail against than a company giving away a free bit of kit to entice people.

You are the most consistently negative person that posts here regularly. Doesn't it get tiring?

 

Don't know what you mean - UA has given a few plugins away free now - the Pultecs, Polymax, LA2A, Century Channel Strip, Galaxy Tape Echo, Verve Essentials now the Pure Plate - all of which I got without paying a penny.

Unless you're one of those weird people that have the "it isn't a free plugin, because you've got to have a computer to run it on, and those aren't free" etc attitude.

Simple maths - the iLok software is free, it's free to set up an account at UA (with a fake email address if you want), the plugins work with machine licensing, and you can get and use this plugin, and the other ones at the time, for free, so yes, UA does indeed, from time to time, "give" something away for free.

 

I understand your point of view, but at least the details are not looked at when something is given as a gift. It is that simple here, if the product is useful to you and you can use it without paying, then you have to accept its conditions. If you don't like the idea, simply don't use it. It may be useful to someone else, and I don't think your sarcasm and ideals are in line with or will impact other users who do want "this gift that is not a gift" according to your thinking. Calm down, relax and live life, which is not always how "one thinks it should or must be" according to what each one "believes".

I never really owned a UAD plugin ever, and since Black Friday I now have a whole bunch. I thought it was a pretty good deal, all considered. Initially I bought the Electronic Music Bundle MK3 (has Minimoog, Opal, Lexicon 224 verb and some other stuff) then I bought Polymax and Galaxy Echo and those two are phenomenal. I got this plate verb for free now, I for the Century Tube Channel Strip for free in Sept, I got the Pultec Passive EQ Collection free for other purchases near BF, I got Oxide Tape free on Plugin Boutique..

I'm honestly hooked on UAD a bit now LOL. I might have all the stuff I really care to own though now, but I'm honestly amazed with how good Polymax and Galaxy Echo are.

I think all this cost around $100USD total. I hate iLOK, but I really do like these UAD plugins a lot.

I guess in that sense, nothing is ever free, because it's a good way to get hooked.

I actually stopped using UAD plugins due to ilok and their UAD software running all the time. Not just UAD, I stopped using a lot of legit ones because how they the legit stuff are more sketchy and bloattttyy. In R2R, we trust.

 

Too bad. There is such a thing called the "ignore" button. I suggest using it. Buh bye now...

Yeah, I noticed it says that in their print, but my installing it says it's license exists on my iLok, not on my machine.

Same with all the other freebies I have gotten from them over the years.

Haven't hard tested it, but that's what UAD's damn software indicated, and so says my iLok etc iirc...

Perhaps it's poorly worded, or the licenses are tied to the machine if you don't have a physical iLok...

I know the damn pos UA software has to talk when you are installing something, but other then that, I shut down their demons with a few keystrokes and denying access and login items etc... so "in use", I can go a year without talking to UAD or checking in with them unless I want something...

Believe me, I hate iLok... but I don't have an option for some stuff unfortunately. And I don't like talking to anyone, and my work machines are not online when I'm working (which I know is not a total panacea without question lol)... but I don't have to talk to UAD unless I choose to in my experience. Or anyone else after installed...

 

Oxide Tape is free on Plugin Boutique with ANY purchase.. so if you can find something there super cheap, buy that, and voila.. Oxide Tape for 'free'. It's 29USD on UAD, but you can probably get some random thing for $5 (whether you use it or not), and then you have Oxide for $5.

 

Yeah yeah i know that but that is the problem,i don't have those $5 for anything, that's the problem when You live in Argentina.

 

Really? In my case, every time I open any UAD plugins or even any project with them, they automatically start UAD's software. Without that, the plugins stay blurred and won't work. I couldn't find any way to stop that, so I gave up.
