How to add presets to this version? I placed .mid files with factory banks in C:\Users\[username]\Documents\The Usual Suspects\NodalRed2x\patchmanager, restarted the plugin and there are still no presets in the preset manager.

    Please Download this one:

Clavia Nord Lead 2x Soundset Pack - 40 MB

    Aug 2024 | MID/SYX | 40MB | 18000+ presets in banks and sorted

This is a big soundset Pack for the Clavia Nord Lead 2x, it includes also Sounds made for the Nord Lead 1 and Nord Lead 2 as these can be loaded aswell with the 2x version. Some Soundsets are exported from Discovery Pro (Those also sound different, because Discovery Pro doesnt quite resemble the hardware and also has a few more features the NL2x doesnt have.). There are maybe some duplicates. It is hard to tell, because Clavia didnt really have any preset naming apart from Numbers and Bank naming. But it does have some kind of categories atleast.
These can also be imported to Discovery Pro of course if you dont have the hardware. Enjoy

    home page: https://www.nordkeyboards.com/

    INSTALL
    1. Download and UnRar
    2. Inside is the " NL2x Banks " Folder
    3. Open the Nodal Red 2X Preset Browser
    4. Go to " Data Source "
    5. Right Mouse Klick and " Add the Folder " --> NL2x Banks

Thanks, I was just using this exact archive. I just couldn't find where the "Data Source" is. Found it finally, it works. ;)

Q: Why isn’t there a Midi Learn function?

A: The Virus hardware already has plenty of control changes mapped to modify presets at runtime. Changing this behavior would mean that other external controllers or editors that are designed for the Virus would stop functioning. Check the official Virus A/B/C documentation to see how the controllers are mapped

A2: We realize this is a very popular request and we are currently investigating a way to add this into our emulators.

"MIDI learn" will need a MIDI learn to original MIDI mapping layer between plugin midi in and emulated synth, to keep the original MIDI mapping.

But once they done it, it will work on all synths by just changing the MIDI mapping numbers.

These 90s synths were notoriously digital sounding & the Nord Lead I believe one of the first VA was no exception. I remember the supernova being quite capable at the time but i do not miss it in my setup as it's easy to get similar results with a vst. It's a great project & its great to have a vst of a wave xt & virus but i can't see me using the Nord Lead, Waldorf Q or SuperNova. I always fancied a Nord modular not sure if that used the same chip & maybe the nostalgia is strong because its probably doesn't compare to today's virtual modulars.

I see that Novation Supernova II is at development stage, and several stuff from Clavia, Novation, Waldorf is more at research stage.... More works coming soon.... 2025-2026)
But what about broken "what perfectly work on Win7"? Any legacy versions? Yes, discontinue x86, but support please win7, vst2, vst3, clap.... Dependency on Juce... Why? Break old for stable new? Why not just support old if it worked on win7, 8,10,11 altogether? Why reaper, dmgaudio supports all from xp, me up to 11? Fabfilter? What is so incredible here to drop old for new? I think all the new stuff released today may work even on XP..and x86

Discord, sistersite, audiosex, file storages..... And more and more.... Become not working... So, vpn, etc. do not work... Sometimes I have access.... But it seems that I will no longer be with you... Months, weeks, days... We are almost cut from the whole world.. We emulate all... Coca cola, pepsi, lay's, McDonald's.... New brands, but in "Russian Mode"... So will be further

@rosko For now, i use Virus and XT emus too.

I didn't found anything special into Nord Lead and Q.
Sound "bread and butter" on every preset ... and i listened to dozen of banks and hundreds of presets before dumping them forever.

SuperNova / Nord Modular may be more interesting to me.

I still find all those emus refreshing to test :winker:

Yep same Motorola chip. I agree with you and don't understand this obsession with old Virtual Analog DSP. Sound of old Nord Lead for example was not only the bare DSP chip that this project tries to emulate, but the whole relationship between hardware components, their temperature fluctuations, imperfections and audio converters which had their influence on the sound at the end.:disco: Soundwise these pure DSP emulations don't give anything special we don't have in our DAWs today. Thats why as I said earlier the old Nord Lead 1 and Nord Modular 1 have different sound it was more aggressive and raw.
If you are interested and on Windows, there is a hacked demo of Nord Modurar emulation software made by Clavia, I use it from time to time.

Nothing you said matters. Each has a vibe. If you don't pick up the vibe, what do you want anyone to say? Do you think we care? What are you expecting? What The Fuck.

I totally "pick the vibe" with Ostirus and Xenia
Like anything programmed, it is the genius, hard work and vision behind the code who makes the difference.
    Not the DSP itself.

Kemper is behind Virus and Kemper profilers.
He was ahead of amp profiling by more than 10 years before any concurrent product emerged.
Meaning a century in digital domain.

Same with PSP Vintage Warmer, Soundtoys Decapitator, U-HE ACE (2009), Synth Squad (2009) ... still amazing plugins.
Yes 2009 was an amazing year for virtual synths (zero delay feedback filters, audio rate modulation ...).
The first year i was not any more able to tell hardware analog from digital.

I'm very happy trying those DSP driven pieces of history that i couldn't afford in hardware.
And i feel some of them STILL kick hard, even by today standards.

I could start talking about "sound engines" ... but it will start a war.
As an example, Serum sound engine sound different than Vital, even with basic sounds.
Filters, oversampling ... i don't know, but i clearly ear it.

Saying "DSP is DSP" is like "digital is digital" : non sense

Same DSP, those synths are totally different sounding.
And i can add some digital/analog spices after them if i want to.

I'm out, because it seems ppl here are already running in circle :mates:

Well Vital & Serum certainly use different mathematical algorithms I don't think its especially controversial to say so. I'm not saying there is no use to this synth btw i guess my point is during the 90s & early 2000s you had limited choice & thus they had more of an importance & impact simply because it was the tools we had & alot of the interest is nostalgia driven. I definitely feel we are in a golden era, the choice & quality of hardware & software on offer is bonkers.
