The use of DAWs has several levels. Beginner, intermediate and advanced level. Almost all DAWs support all the steps and you can do everything you do with one in the other ones.
After a while when the work is determined, you limit your choice to a few specific DAWs. The reason is that you discover the genre of music you want in which you have more capability and you try to choose a DAW that will advance your work process faster.
In my opinion, before deciding to make music, learn the basic and general concepts of music and leave working with DAWs for the next step. After you have learned the concepts for a while, you can try different DAWs and choose the one that best meets your needs.
There is another thing you can do, and that is to download the training courses from the sister site and move forward in a non-linear way, learn a little about the concepts and get to know a little about different software.
But keep in mind that learning all this takes a lot of time and it's better to try to discover your musical taste at each learning stage and know what you have in mind to implement in music. In this way, you can more easily choose different software and focus on it.

A simple way to know what is what is to click on the link below and familiarize yourself with the audio software, each of which is for certain purposes. You can easily see the categories on this site. If you click on each one, a short description has been written about them:
    https://www.kvraudio.com/plugins/the-newest-plugins
Just remember not to get overwhelmed by these because these tools don't make music for you. They are tools that are made for each part of the work. You should be familiar with the concepts of music and sound before working with them. Then you can use them however you like. The more you know about music, the better you can use these.

You're a bit late to the party but there's weeklybeats, I've participated this year, it happens every two years. It's like a music gym for composers, the community is alright.

Which pretty much means you're going to spend all year watching Youtube videos of people suggesting 10,001 different plug-ins and arguing if gain staging is important or not, if all DAWs have their own sound even though their outputs null, and if anyone can actually hear the difference between MP3 320K and FLAC in a blind listen. It will be a waste of time.

Do yourself a favor and actually commit to piano lessons for a year. Then arbitrarily pick *one* DAW to learn and do not second guess that choice. Do not let yourself switch. Do not hunt plug-ins. Do not think there is a magic button or an industry secret that you're not being told.

Focus on making good sounding music, and record it as simply as you can without letting yourself spiral out into being a tech nerd, sample collector, modular synth builder, or hardware/software collector.

It's a bit like the Bruce Lee advice: Do you want to listen to someone that has mastered 22 DAWs and has 5027 plug-ins installed, but doesn't know how to write a good sounding song, or at least can't finish one? Or do you want to listen to someone who is a great musician who only knows the basics of how to record some audio?

You really want someone who is both but your point is not lost because they are extremely rare. :) In fun, you can get someone who is like water

I decided not to reply to the OP because if it is not Foster, it is a remarkably good representation. :deep_facepalm: We all want to help but somehow, I am still cynical that help is not what the OP seeks.
@Xupito - you did warn everyone.

Reaper is amazing, although (by default) it is ugly as sin.

My secret advice is to install Reaper 2 first. They got the theme and layout correct in that version, IMHO. Then install whatever recent version you want and keep using the default Reaper 2 theme. I don't know why they keep reinventing the theme with every version. It's almost like they are intentionally sabotaging it aesthetically for some reason.

@kilyohearts If you don't want to change DAW for the rest of your life, install Cubase pro and have either FL Studio or Live next to it. The other DAWs are all subsets of Cubase and are more incomplete than that. Learn Cubase completely, you can do anything you want with it. It satisfies most of your needs. It is a professional DAW. Cubase was not cracked for a long time and Reaper took advantage of this vacuum and became popular among non-professionals. After learning Cubase, FL Stuido and Live, you won't need any other DAW. I am absolutely sure of this. Cubase pro and Studio one are very similar but Cubase is more complete.

Cubase does not require a lot of hardware power. If the RAM of your laptop is 8 gig, it is enough. Even if the CPU is weak, you can easily work with it, because Cubase's CPU consumption is almost 0% when it is not loaded with plugins. It is enough to have a lite version of Windows 10 or 11 installed on your system, then you can easily install anything, including Cubase. Then you will see that serving you very fast.
Never let the power of your hardware dictate what to install or not, because this way you deprive yourself of wonderful software and you go to temporary software that you will have to spend time again and switch to professional software. .
