How do you know that. How do you check this?

 

If your firewall is set to deny all outbound connections, with notification asking your permission to allow the connection; you would see that traffic. How he can "see" a specific file trying to connect or outbound solicitation is a difference in firewall feature sets. How a Log file is actively attempting to connect outbound is a different story, since log files are usually just text. That one, you've got me idk. But you could always look into a network traffic analysis tool like example Wireshark. A popular Windows software firewall with a feature set like that is Glasswire.

 

I think you missed some NKS

 

The ReFX cloud app is not able to connect to the server.

No, not at this point. It is your turn to decide and open/close ports or enable reFX in HOSTS or firewall. The prog cannot do that for you. RTFM firewall, antivirus & HOSTS blocks

If one uses a cracked version he should not start the reFX cloud at all. It's ReFX's activation and download agent. It most likely deleted not auth'd Expansion or sth.
One must do this work by hand and sort out where to place files correctly.
It's necessary to understand the directory structure.

And ofc never use the agent.

I examined all connections to ReFX launching N5 with wireshark but I cannot find any packet that holds your mentioned logging information. Are you sure that his info is being transmitted to ReFX?

1. Missing Pictures in Browser
If you use k'd version and did not download original expansions with reFX cloud, there are no pictures, just an empty socket for the installed Xpansions.
You can download the needed picture files from ReFX's nexus Website shown for EDM10 Xpansion:

• Got to https://refx.com/nexus/
• Right click on the Picture for EDM10
• Click Save picture to
• A file named like EDM_10_1722619216.svg is loaded down.
• Clean the file from the Number (_1722619216) part underscore included
• The filename now reads "EDM_10.svg"
• move it to c:\Users\$USER$\AppData\Roaming\reFX\cloud\cache\images

Do this for every Xpansion you'll use.

(re) Start Nexus 5 and you will be presented with pictures in the Expansion an file browser.

2. Directory Structure for XPansions

After you installed k'd Nexus 5 you'll need to copy Xpansions to the Nexus 5 content location by hand. Don't use reFX cloud it may delete the not auth'd Xpansions.
Before you copy downloaded Xpansions you can use reFX once cloud Manager to define where the content directory sould reside:


Move the content directory to a desired lovcation



Do not use the cloud manager to download or activate anything just close it now (and forever).

Alternatively you can use the "update_nexus_library_location.exe" included in the k'd distribution.
Move whole content directory "NEXUS library" to the desired location. Copy "update_nexus_library_location.exe" to this location and click it once. Done.

The Directory "NEXUS library" in the content location will now look sth like this now:



If they don't exist create the directories NKS, Presets, Samples

In the Xpansion you downloaded somwhere, you'll find the sth like this in a subdirectory. EDM10 is just for instance:
Nexus EDM10 Expansion:

Inside the NKS subdirectory there is another subdirectory called "previews"

IMPORTANT: Change the name of the subdirectory into ".previews" if it isn't already!
Only this way N5 will find the necessary preview Audio files



Special treatment for the downloaded Artist Series EXpansion:
Before you copy the Artist Series Xpansions to the "NEXUS library" folder, delete the part "Artist series " (Blank included) from the foldernames within NKS, Presets folders.
For Example for 7 Skies the folder you copy should read
"XP 7 Skies" instead of
"XP Artist Series 7 Skies".

In a last Step copy the Scubdirectories NKS, Presets, Samples to your N5 content directory.

(re)Start N5 and the Xpansions shoulkd show up in the browser.

3. Nexus doesn't find any of the Expansions I installed
If you installed the Xpansions you downloaded from the internet by hand, Nexus doesn't know where they are. So it starts, but there are no expansions found.

1. find the path where you installed the Expansions for Nexus.
2. go to the path c:\Users\Public\Documents\reFX\nexus\
3. Backup the file before you start to edit it
4. open the file "settings.json" with a text editor like notepad.exe
5. Find the line:

   "library_folder": "C:\\ProgramData\\reFX\\NEXUS library",

6. Paste the full qualified path of your Library content for nexus between the uotation marks, e.g. C:\users\public\documents\Nexus Library
7. Make all backslashes double backslashes
Leave the leading blanks as well as the comma at the end.
The line should now read like this if your path was C:\users\public\documents\Nexus Library

8. Overwrite the file "settings.json" (cave: without the .txt extension!)

If you did everything right, Nexus should now find the Expansions.


(re)Start N5 and the Xpansions shoulkd show up in the browser.

The first 3 errors indicate that you succesfully blocked reFX auth system.
If you don't like/need it edit firewall/HOSTS

The next 2 errors are a kind of fake and even occur in legit installations.

You only need a software capable of editing .svg files. Basically any software thats is capable of editing vector grapüics will do the job, like Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw...
Load one of the icons on reFX's homepage, edit it and place it into the right directory and you're done. For reference read my prior post regarding Icon pictures of N5

I already have .svg icons at 128x128 in the ..reFX\cloud\cache\images folder, but the icons are not appearing in the browser. The .svg name matches the presets folder name but still nothing.
Also, what "reFX homepage" are you talking about?

 

You need rom extensions 3 and 4 from nexus 4 to use this presets

Im using fl studio 24 and i have to click the gui after choosing a preset to hear the notes i play on my keyboard does anybody know how to fix it ? thanks

 

It is like this for all plugins, not just Nexus. A simple solution would be to use a MIDI Controller instead of your computer keyboard.
