So the main difference is, with 24 it looks like my menus are a bit "wider", due to that FL cloud option... is there a way to turn my fl 24 into fl 21's streamlined look?

I saw online there's no way to disable fl cloud, but is there a way to edit the text for "manage cloud plugins"???

Any help would be appreciated. yes i know this is borderline OCD and I'm typically messy and don't care, but when constantly creating, I got used to the streamlined look and that giant wall of text ill never click on... idk it doesnt sit well

I see what you mean. Typical developer "fail".
    Wasted space...
And...nothing else needs an icon, but it needs a CLOUD icon?

Well, I can not see a way to change that yet...still looking.

I applied a setting in Win 10 which is supposed to disable wide menus, for Windows Explorer.
I think it did work in general - can't recall.
I don't know what these devs are thinking.

i have the same issue, you cant hide the shop and the online panel and there is no way to deactivate the Cloud shit in the browser.

the two panels are not reomvable since i guess like 24.2, with 24.1 they could removed i think.

also all this shit is totally useless, if you work offline anyway.
Damn IL, really that desperate to force us to see your cloud and online stuff, no what we have internet or not?

@DoubleTake they probably got told, make the user always see our online stuff.

and im sure if you write them a ticket asking how to hide or deactivate the ticket will get ignored.

Cancel the FL Cloud so that you retain control over what happens on your PC.

If you don't like a product, don't buy it or delete it. Don't follow every fad and
cloud promise. Don't let them tell you what else you need to be happy.

Most of it is marketing, with the goal of making you even more money.

Well, in my case, and for many others, I am sure, we don't have no FL Cloud account and we have very good control over what happens on our PCs. We didn't buy it but won't delete it, won't follow fads, or believe cloud promises what they tell us we need to be happy...

But that thing about the goal of marketing making me even more money.... I'll take THAT!

i avoid logging in with my FL account, i simply upload challenge code and get my regkey.

if you click wrong it will still ask you over and over to log into your IL/FL account, which is also the cloud account?

this online crap just comes around like flu, we didnt ask for it, but IL forced us to see it anyway.

When you want to log in to the Image Line forum, you get an email every time with a new code that you have to enter.
Conclusion: Without an email account and the right code, you no longer have access.

yes, its ILs two factor auth, which is okay.

it was like that, that for getting your legit regkey, you had to login and download it.

Idk what happened, but i was able to remove the two panels, leaves me still with the stupid cloud icon in the browser, which jsut sits there and wastes space.

now to brendans question, it doesnt look like you can deactivate the cloud features in FL24, which is annoying, i havnt found any options in the settings, nor in the browser ... it just sits there useless.

It's not something that can be disabled. It's there to use it if you want, otherwise you don't have to.
With each update new features are added, so you should think about update stops.

A user wrote to Fl and asked how he could get rid of it. Answer: No, that's not possible"

I just installed 2024.2.0 and deticked "FL Cloud Plugins" in the installer.
It doesn't show "Manage FL Cloud plugins" here.

    Edit:
Wait, in the effects rack it still shows "manage fl cloud"

    When you go to:
    \Documents\Image-Line\FL Studio\Settings\Browser
you can find some *.tabconfig files which you can edit in a txt editor.

Just scroll down to "Hidden" and set it to "1".
Save the file and run FL again. The hidden tabs are gone.

Really? Just right click an icon in the browser (for example "Sounds" that is the online shop) and choose "Hide" from the menu that will appear.

    upload_2024-12-4_18-3-27.png

To undo it, right click any icon and choose from "Show hidden >" an option you need.

Thats hardcoded into FL Studio. Only way possible to disable everything cloud related is to debug FL Studio / alter the binaries.

yeah i thought so. but man, why not fix the menu entry, they could just made the string shorter. FL Cloud plugin and drop the manage and the menus would look normal.

That's too bad - That is what the OP was hoping to fix :dunno:

Still in my opinion, NOTHING beats FL Studio for menu access to plugins.

(Of course that degree of customization for that many plugins is a chore, but , while I really only use Reaper now, I keep FL Studio updated and plugin scanned to really keep track of what I have - LOL)
    -------------------
Long menu items are really annoying for repeated use.
Reaper is a big offender in that, with a lot of info in each line and MANY menu items / submenus...
Well, one can access almost anything via the menus, and that can be overwhelming..

    BUT
(a BIG "but') .... one can edit the menus/ create submenus/ custom menus to the heart's content...
(and STILL retain access to the VERY INFORMATIVE default menu by a carat at the bottom of customized menu)
That is what I really love about Reaper.
So much is NOT hard-coded. Very inviting for someone who likes to customize / make more efficient

Thank you guys for trying and thinking on it at least! I think I may stick with FL 21.... its not really an eyesore... but I tested both and fl 21 is just as good as the latest version.
