Hi, i'm trying to look for a vst that would let me edit an amen break like they did in the old days, via segments. Individual sections (hits) would have different pitches, speeds or added effects without effecting the whole sample. I use FL Studio, and i do not want to use any outside programs. I have tried FL's stock plugins, meh. What i'm looking for is sort of what a Tracker did in the 90's.

Did you try Amigo Sampler? It's made by a small developer that seems really nice also.

Yes i have, it's just awesome. I just can't figure out how to do segments in it yet without separate instances of the plugin.

    renoise ?
turnado can do proper uk breaks ,but need training and skill...but if you really know about pitchshifting delay and the other stuff usage for that processing it could be easier...but there is no way to get it easy like in amigo i think
i was once a bit interested in that
saw an old white haired dude kickin the sickest live breaks hard as fck with turnado...

Apisonic Speedrum would be my drum sampler of choice if I was on Windows. Or Serato Sample 2.

from what i kno most ppl doing jungle genre use old hw samplers and octamed or renoise/redux...
i guess dnb guys like technical itch which still know what a proper break is use both worlds ,the old and new .
which slicer is totally equal...to get that tracker grid sound in modern there are only plugins like the mentioned...
eg pitchfunk may be allready to static

Heres a freebie in Plugdata that can run in any host that is a bit more than just a sampler, more like a sample freaker. Its free and INSANE

Otherwise, as others have pointed out, Amigo sampler. But i just read you want different pitches and such per chop. Does FL allow you to have multiple VST's hosted on one track? Like an instrument rack where you can assign note range to each instrument?

Serato sampler allows you to have different pitches / speeds for each chop

Another deja-vu shout out to Audiomodern Loopmix, good results quickly. I love it and it exports Midi to DAW painlessly...not just great for Amen beats, D&B, Jungle, etc.

I find it ironic that no-one has mentioned Kontakt, and I am surprised there is not already a good native option in FL Studio. On Mac, Logic would be the best answer for this kind of workflow. Drum Machine Designer is like using Recycle was. But instead of it just creating slices and a midi file to trigger playback, it creates the midi file and loads each individual slice into its own Logic Q sampler instance (which is a loaded full featured sampler), creates an audio channel for each sampler, and creates a summing stack of the entire group. In about 5 mouse clicks. It's close to perfect for breaks drum work, if that is your thing.

If you want tracker style keyboard shortcut re-triggering, use Renoise. Or Reaktor.

Other plugins to check the workflow of would be Geist, Regroover, Stylus RMX. Stuff that can load Recycle files. If you want to go down that rabbit hole.

Ableton does the same thing as Logic! "Slice to new Midi track", right click and select that and its done. You can even save your own slicing presets, which allow you to customize how the slices will behave before slicing the file. Really cool. You can have Envelope, pitch, Effects etc all mapped within different presets.

They really outdid themselves with the Logic 10.5 update to the Drum Machine Designer. They finally listened to people complaining about Ultrabeat and added the Logic Q Sampler and did these changes to Drum Machine Designer. It's the DAW workflow equivalent of having Recycle, a rack full of samplers, and a mixer with them all connected to it immediately in your DAW.

What is the earliest version of Ableton with that style workflow that you would recommend trying it in?

The logic version sounds great! I own logic, but havent updated in a while. Ill probably get around to it in the next month, as its pretty slow for me this time of year. Im not sure what version of ableton that first started, but its been around for a while now. Years, i would guess it goes back at least to 8, if not further.

this is not so much about workflow , its more about right trigger and timing of stutter, pitch down/up,stretch,delay,pitch delay, pitchshifting delay and what not .

besides the og's i dont kno much new era artist who do proper hitting uk breaks which is programmed by themselfs and are not amen
technical itch is no1 to me ,noisia can do it too but hopped on neuro and more technoid breaks

thats not the thing for that matter , the thing is when and how 1 slice get triggered and which effect combi working on it

also somehow a simple pitch down or up roll sounds much different in a tracker than in modern piano rolls midi grid
    imho
    ----
    livecut i forgot
    geist maybe

but on op actual question there is only redux
