When I was a kid, Further Down the Spiral changed my understanding of what musicians could do with their own tracks. The contributions from Aphex and Coil are superb, too, and it shows you how far ahead Trent was in terms of popular music. It's still some of my favorite NIN.

 

I love that guy. Best nerd. I've admired his work since the days of posting on Joyrex.com, back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Went on to become one of my favorite YouTubers.

His recent video about Twitter bots is quite something.

 

well if you honest when seeing the faces as methaphas its pretty on point kind of and the the thing about advertising and its subconcious works isnt science fiction i would say...

Can you enumarate specific techniques for checking if e.g. a drum loop has any subliminals?
(say a live drum kit loop of 2 bars)
If I don't hear anything resembling a voice (neither forwards nor backwards), then I can be 100% sure there's no subliminals in the sample loop?

 

Well, I guess for Language based "subliminals" yes..

If there's no Words, there cant be no backwards message..

Unless it's so Low in volume you cannot hear it,
then you have to wonder if either you conscious or subconscious mind will get it..

I wont bet a dime for the effectiveness of backmasked messages tho, it's just a Curiosity..

It's true there's examples everywhere, from Popeye or Mary Poppins, to Queen or Led Zeppelin,
but most of those backwards messages were made for Fun, it's clear to see..

I don't think mindcontrol, or even influence of opinion is possible with something so mild and hidden.


If I wanted to fuck with ppl's minds I'd take a look at Binaural frequencies,
apparently strange states of mind can be reached, and some ppl managed to Inbalance their brains temporarily..
(provoking anxiety, dizzynes/vertigo, mental unrest, or even dislexya..
but you need to use Headphones )

That and psychotropic drugs,
but we're getting too close to the limits of the NDA I had to sign with MJ12 on MKUltra..

1) Would you recommend looking for subliminal words at some specific playback rates?

2) If I can't hear any speech, maybe e.g. I could open the drumloop in izotope RX and the spectrogram view would suggest that here and here might be a subliminal word? (a word buried so low in volume that I can't hear it consciously)
