next time you see a short video of a musician playing some cover or jammin, think twice if it's even real or not:

    :trashing:

PS: we really need separate AI category on forums here...

The further down the rabbit hole you go, the worse it gets.

    - If someone uses AI to write a track and produce it, can they claim copyright?
    - If someone samples something written by AI, could they claim that a second AI wrote it to escape copyright?
    - If someone uses AI to write something which contains something identical to something AI has already written, who will represent AI in court when it all gets rather messy?

Yes, agreed. It is the wild west now. I suppose it's the same thing every time there's a big shift. When the vinyl disc or the CD came along, people in the industry felt the hit: Jobs were redefined and a new commercial paradigm was needed. The thing is that nowadays these changes are affecting the artist as much as the industry. Copyright law needs to catch up quick. It's already a mess.
I spoke to the people at my local composers and performance rights association and they said that as long as I use AI as a a tool for my creative work, I can copyright it. The thing is that YouTube copyright claims are based not on the creative work. They claim the rights of the song published first in their platform, and disupting those claims is a mess, as the Venus Theory guy pointed out in a video.

the big problem is, i can steal everybodys voice as long as i have audio material of it and then use it for myself and then claim that stuff.

i not only see a problem with that in content production, but also a big one in terms of fake news, fake video, etc because on the first hand it will appear more and more genuine - and i mean nobody will have any tools at hand always to verify.

The problem for me is the paradigm shift into AI has happened so fast on so many fronts its hard to wrap one's head around it. Only the ultra wealthy corporations will survive this unless common sense IP laws are put in place. BUT, lobbyists & insider trading congressmen & senators control my government. So you can pretty much kiss that goodbye... The only solution short term (3-5 years) in my opinion is convincing the normies to go back to physical media. Doesn't necessarily have to be vinyl, tape or CD. Maybe some other new form of tangible media can be thought up of. But as of right now, I'm a glass half empty kind of guy.

"I don't know anything about AI and how's (??) it go about making something like this, if you guys got any idea please let me know in the comments, let me know how can this possibly be done"

How long before the comments sections are full of AI made replies to this kind of solicitation?

How long before AI makes videos that say "let me know in the comments section" and the replies are made by AI as well?

Live events should have some mileage left for the foreseeable future, although I'm pretty sure AI events with VR will become the norm with the next big pandemic lol.

"In the next couple years" is right now imo. Much (most) of the visual art for music and adjacent products is already AI generated and if you're bothered enough to go look for it, then "generative fill" for writing melodies and harmonies is readily available - from inside some DAWs. Pretty safe to assume that highly competitive "artists" on highly competitive socmedia are already using those to gain an edge, or to take over most of the creative decision making process.

I'm pretty sure that whatever 18 year old is blowing up right now on TikTok will have to concede in a decade or two that they were using AI. Laws, if we get any of those at all, will only be protecting companies' rights and not those of individual artists.

    "AI stealing people's content".

@tzzsmk - Perhaps, but first and foremost the ability of people to assess what is right or wrong!

The most annoying thing about AI is not the technology itself but the fact that current AI models cannot and will never be ethically sourced. Extremely rich people are gatekeeping you from using a single second of their copyright without claiming all of your revenue, all while they steal your work and pretend it never happened even after caught.

Companies such as Nvidia are eating every single second of YouTube video and audio in hopes of selling it back to you... They take your music and hope to sell your own creativity back to you. That's the future, and once your work becomes part of the machine, the machine will never dumb itself by unlearning what it stole from you, instead it's going to get smarter at pretending it's not your work in first place.

It's very easy to spot this just follow their mistakes

    1. completely off sync guitar to video hand movements and sound
    2. hand positions and finger placements on fretboard are laughable and beyond idiotic
    3. Real videos have some slight natural fret buzzing and this is missing in these AI silly videos
    4. They always use videos with blurred backgrounds in order for the AI to fake the face easier
    5. They always use other AI videos in order for only needing to face swap
    6. Their body position on the video is not a normal human movement to the finger string placements
    7. They always Ai young chicks to get the male audience since they click on anything with a cute face.
    8. The look into the fretboard or off to the side of the camera is missing in every single Ai video.

The reason why these Ai videos are being made is because people who make and post videos need to stop doing the re sync nonsense where they record themselves into another performance that was better and with less mistakes.

By people doing the audio and video in one take no Ai can duplicate that performance properly since the timing will be off after the Ai changes the video frames, it's simply impossible to duplicate ( re-record) a live recording the same way, not even in studios musicians can do this, it is always slight different.

The way a professional or someone who wants to demonstrate a music piece simply can not be duplicated by Ai as the current Ai does not look at every single pixel in the frame it is region based to swap out faces or other elements.

The only way for Ai to mimic a human is to feed it thousands of videos from a musician playing live instruments in order to capture every single movement vs each note and hand placement for that note because from performance to performance these movements are random.

We are 50+ years from this.

More and more dehumanization and alienation on behalf of commodification: that is the present and the future.

PS: and when I teach about Marx, my students think his ideas are outdated and have been surpassed (alienation and ideology rule the world).

Lawyers are already having an orga*m when they think of all the lawsuits :suicide:

It's time for politics to get a move on. This can't just be decided by some idiot of civil servant in the US copyright office!
