So stupid though. These sell for like 150-300 each normally, so quoting price "if they were genuine ones" is absurdly moronic. The customers bought these BECAUSE they refuse/can't pay the amount for genuine ones, so would never have bought the genuine ones, so is in no way a lost income for Gibson/Fender. This is the same tripe put out by software manufacturers about warez too. Ultimately, make your prices low enough and people will buy, exploit people by making things artificially unattainable then they will seek other ways and will be in no way lost earnings for the company as they've already priced that customer out. It's not that hard to understand!

Interestingly though, I took a couple of my guitars to my luthier for some work recently and he said he's recently had 2 Chinese made fake Les Paul guitars and claimed they were sublime quality, better than Epiphone by far, and better than some genuine Gibsons he's worked on.

 

Now, this is a reallll Gibson!

Apple destroys their own computers, its a common practice to protect "Brands" and markets. Tesla's destroy themselves though so its handy - that Elon sure knows how to design a business Eco system.
