That looks so bad i thought it was fake.

Akai needs to stick with 16 pads.

Laptop + Ableton Suite license + Push 2 = same price as this.
I guess my choice would be clear. (They could have called it PURSE!)

True and agreed! However, at the end of the day, customers in the music production world (DJs/Producers/Musicians/Sound Engineers/Hobbyists and Pros) are partly to blame cause most of them are out there every day demanding MORE, MORE, MORE. That "never enough" behavior manifests from hardware to software demand (The requests section of the sister site is part proof, lol).

Come to think about it, that's how the MPC came about. AKAI had to make it for people to even try it and for it to become an iconic piece many versions after. Ableton had to have AKAI made Push for us to know that such hardware was even possible. So, who knows a few months, a few years down the line what traction FORCE will gain or lose in the industry. Time is the only thing that always tells the story down the road.

Looks like fun, I have an afternoon coming up playing with one, its a lot of cash and I only recently got the Live so I am going to need to love it to buy it.

    Looks cool though.

I prefer the mpc, it is aimed more for arrangement and sketching.

the force with all those lights, I cant stand blinking lights in my face, it enough with all screens already

the force is more inclined towards clip/live/sequencing in a dj like situation. its not for me but im sure of the regular outcome, people with talent will make it great sounding work on it, and most others will make.. what they can with it.

    :hifive:

akai mpc - is their cult pads firstly.

maybe force is really good hardware, but it must use "bpc" (buttons production center)

    :wtf:

they made hardware with virtual software synths...

    :deep_facepalm:

Most modern hardware synths are virtual synths running on a DSP as well ...

not the same as a dedicated unit ;)

It's not the right equation for sure, Push 2 (new) has an Ableton Lite license so Suite is an upgrade so not needed to begin with. Then you do need an interface, and to do what the Akai does you need one with DC-coupled connections and multiple ins/outs (for the CV/gate signals).

So while I'm a fan of the laptop route being a computer nerd that I am, it's not really the same as a dedicated unit. Especially if one's sampling a lot, recording/editing samples on the Akai beats Ableton pants off.

good argument, I am less a fan of them either but with the akai plugins they did it properly.
