Audio is not over hyped/processed so, you get a more genuine listening experience allowing weaknesses & strengths to stand out.

Recently discovered his channel with his Claire video and just yesterday I watched the 2024 shootout. Dude's really a great player all around so really anything sounds great when he's playing.

His Claire demo sounds nothing like mine, I have no idea why even after messing with the velocity curves a lot none of my first and third party Kontakt pianos sound "right". Pianoteq and Rhodes Anthology sound great, but Kontakt sounds super dull and dead. Playing on a fully weighted Casio piano over here.

 

The VSL velocity scaler is a great tool for tuning your controller internal velocity control. Each VSTi will have it's own approach to sensitivity settings. Some are easy & basic, some are more advanced requiring trial & error to get it right. His tip to start at the controller is what I would do first.

Post what model you have & someone here may have the solution ready to go.

 

He is really good at playing virtual instruments & not sounding artificial (as in obvious).
