This is a direct attack on another human being. "They are devaluing him to improve themselves." Then they make fun of his usernames. In the end, they realize their disrespect and apologize, but since they can't help it, they end the sentence with boy!

This includes the right to express opinions and positions that one does not personally like.

I'm interested: where is a 01/W emulation (no samples)? I have wonderful memories about it.

There is none. The Korg Wavestation VSTi is another great alternative worth checking out.

It would be quite an engineering win to emulate a sample playback synth like Korg 01/W with just software mate. I dunno if it's even possible. Ironically enough for today's AI explosion, the sample/synthesis engine Korg used on the O1 was called AI2, en evolution of M1's AI engine. And it became what drove -if i am not mistaken- all 90s Korg workstations all the way to Triton.
    Cheers

Fact is, I grabbed the real Wavestation AND the real 01/W (FD) at the musical store, at the same time in 1994 I believe.
None of them are with me anymore, unfortunately.
I think yes today is possible (see the SY99 - still with me - emulated with Falcon, though with caveats, see below), question is...
Does it really worth the pain to code with the multitude of immensely powerful vsts?

    I thought you said
So that Falcon/SY99 is a sample library mate. And Falcon is a sampler + synth. SY99 is two engines, one part FM and another sample based. As the message you posted reveals, they couldn't emulate the synthesis part of the SY99, so they went on to make a sample library out of it.
Only if there is a highly estimated target group for it, imho. For instance, i can bet too many people went for the KorgM1 vsti just for the "house" piano patch lol. Some vsts like that bring back nostalgia that may appeal to both old and newer audiences who only "encountered" the older hardware through sample libs. So, to bring it back to where we started, i have yet to see an emu of a sample based hardware synth without the use of some sort of sampling. If i am mistaken someone please correct me, thanks.
    Cheers
PS: And let's not forget that wavetables are essentially short audio samples too.

Dear @taskforce, of course no hardware emulation comes close to the original.

"Music devices for everyone worldwide and cheap - the analogue becomes digital"

A comment on the advantages of virtual software synthesizers:

Virtual software synthesizers are cheap, don't break, there are no repair costs, they take up less space in the living room, they are easy to transport (USB stick), you can download them electronically from the Internet, there are no costs for packaging, there are no costs for shipping.

Oh, disappointing - I thought that Falcon engines would have been used more wisely, I personally dislike sample libraries CONCEPT (and a huge fan of physical model), original included samples in SY99 were just few MBs, so I guess it's stupid having GBs just to have basically few static sounds.

The AFM engine was SY99 king, but to be honest I never squeezed anything good from init patch because of its complexity, just some distorted grunt.:)

I forgot: I don't ask for that, after all they were sample playback workstations/synths, but for the other "analogue" engines, I expect to be so.
