I use this soft synth and like it a lot.

Only problem is that I'm unable to map the super knob to my Arturia keylab essential Mk3 which is frustrating.

I usually have no problem mapping any vsti to my controller but for some reasons it doesn't seem to work with this soft synth.

I use Studio One if it matters.

 

that this synth is only intended to be a companion to its hardware counterpart may mean the mapping is less universal

 

I totally understand that is designed to work with its hardware counterpart, but id like to know aswell if someone have a workaround for it

 

You can map Super Knob to any CC in the preferences (gear icon), default is 95

This is not accurate.
The soft synth is supposedly only available for the hardware owner but Yamaha themselves said that you can use the software independently from the hardware.

 

my understanding was that the hardware worked as a dongle but it is good to hear I am wrong

 

The only limitation I'm aware of is that only the Montage hardware synth buyer get a download link to get the soft synth while buying the hardware one.
But once downloaded and installed, he can use both independently if he wants.
