Hello, I have received a DJ mix from a friend that he would like to use for a dance competition. It is 3 minutes long and the individual tracks were downloaded from YouTube and mixed by him. However, the volume of the individual tracks is not uniform and as they are played over a large system at the dance competition, they should be uniformly loud. Could someone please listen to it and tell me how to get it even? Thank you very much

You should upload a wave file of it that can be downloaded.

3min long is not very long for a djmix
    Do you mean a mashup?

^ like a "medley" that just jumps through a bunch of tracks quickly. None of the tracks get blended together. Think more Fiver and less Music.

The usual way to match the levels of different songs is to normalize them based on loudness, so open up the LUFS meter of your choice and lower the volume of the loudest songs to match the loudness of the quietest one.

This is not a mashup mate. A mashup is a track that contains overlapping elements of two or more different songs that are matched together melodically and rhythmically.
This is just a DJ mix that back in the day was called a "megamix", because of many tracks crammed one after the other in a relatively short time. This style of mixing became popular in the 80s and many djs would put out white label pirate 12" of famous artists' songs all mixed in a 5-6 mins duration.
    Cheers

It's just 4 s****y tracks stitched together, no DJ mixing, no BPM matching, no mash up, nothing musical at all.

the mix is already pretty level. you can boost the volume in the very beginning part i suppose, the rick ross section. I would just do it manually, by using clip gain automation. finish things off with a transparent limiter doing a couple db

I remember those lol, but of overlapping tracks and sirens and buzzers lol. I wouldn't really consider this a mix per say I'd call it a compolilation. I'm curious though if this is to be used in a public event? At the higher levels of high school/college competition this would not be allowed in their venues due to unedited profanity. Your buddy needs to learn to cut and transition, beat matching etc. If he was on decks he just cued a track and slid the fader.. no djing at all.

I use to mix on vinyl with SL1200s, which was real Djs, None of this USB sync crap. It's too easy today.

I learned mixing on bpm studio just to learn how to beat match the tempo of 2 different songs after that i bought 2 turntabels en start djing with vinyl back then it was real beat matching no sync button

If you are his REAL friend, don't do it. Be honest and tell him it just isn't good enough to submit. In time he'll thank you for it

Ive had a rethink, and you asked a question so it would be wrong of me to say what I said.

Make the main tracks mono, and then dubs and edits, panned to one side slightly for a stereo effect. If your friend can also pitch some edits higher or lower, but in tune, this will also liven it up a lot.

Mates. It doesn't matter much. I think we brought enough hell on the poor dude. The guy is apparently not a dj. He just put 4 tracks in a row for some person(s) to dance to. No big deal. Perhaps the dancer(s) will do a better job hehe.
    Y'all be well
