the thing is just horrible looking it hurts to look at i think they nailed it with autotune 8 too bad it doesnt run on windows 11 and dont say autotune pro 11 has an advantage over pro 9 becouse it really doesnt the harmony engine adds latency which makes it unusable for low latency recording i think antares is lost they still have the snappiest autotune in the market but they must step up their game for autotune pro 12 and bring negative retune speeds also the ability to double vocals hope the best for antares but right now it doesnt look good they lost their ambition

 

Nobody is forcing you to use Windows 11.

windows 10 and 8 dont have security updates leaving your pc open for any trojan/hacks it's not worth it to lose thousands of dollars of audio software for an obselete program but autotune 8 is unrivaled in my opinion

 

You are being paranoid. Just don't install stuff from crappy websites, stick to reputed sources like sister site and you will be fine. I am still on Windows 8 since ages and yet to face any problem. I don't even use an antivirus because it affects system performance.

 

I have this happen all the time with new program and plugin versions. It's because you aren't used to the new one, usually. In a few weeks you will not even notice it. There is a special exception for Kick 3, damn.

 

I dont think im being paranoid running older windows versions is a very big risk if you have anything valuable in your pc like audio software / credit cards / paypal you should be using windows 11 or 10 right now

 

yeah ive used autotune 8 for more than 3 years so it's kinda hard to get comfy with newer versions i wish they offered support for windows 11

 

I am not going to tell you you cant be hacked if you use an older operating system,but can you say for certain you wont be hacked if your system is up to date?

 

With every new version of Windows, MS adds some fresh million + lines of new code to find newer problems with. A lot of that is what new updates are fixing.

Well of course i hope not either, but these are all choices you need to make. Probably the best choice is using an audio pc offline.

 

Personally I had Windows and Linux on dual boot, offline optimized Windows for audio, Linux for rest.

 

You can also create a persistent Linux install on a usb pendrive. Windows can keep the whole physical drive to itself, and stay disconnected from the network or internet. For general internet stuff, it might not a big security difference, but for a new linux user it can be safer from themselves. It's not a dual boot, so the bootloader lives on the pendrive.

 

I'm still trying to understand what a plugin looks like, has to do with it's performance. It can look like poo smeared over rotten meat, if it's a good plugin, I'll use it. It works in the background and you don't have to look at it the whole time.

if you're not running programs that would detect malware, how can you be sure you don't have malware?

 

Back in the days, I would just deactivate the antivirus (that real-time scanning thing) and would scan my system every 2-3 months. But I never got any virus, so I got lazy and stopped it after a while. The last virus I remember that affected my pc was the one which would hide the files in drive as system files and give shortcuts to the folders instead. It was transmitted through a one of my friend's pen drive.

The thing is, all these OSs and internet browsers have enough protection to save you from viruses. You just need to be more mindful of what you are clicking on. Most people don't bother. They would just click 'next' without reading what they are proceeding with.

For that malware part, when you are affected by a virus, your machine starts acting weird. I usually keep an eye on the task manager. If something unusual is running and consuming data, disk, cpu or memory, I investigate it and see if it is something I installed or something else and act accordingly. And as I said, I download material from trusted sites only and I know plenty of them that I don't have to go anywhere else.
