It's not gonna work out of the box, you're going to have to softmod your PS2. If you're new to softmodding, it's going to be damn difficult. But once you get it done, it will be quite rewarding.

i remember playing gran turismo 14 days on the trot on my PS2 ;) . I bought it but i played several cracked games. My PS2 was hard modded. I didn't know that there is the ability to softmod it. There were several cheap hardmodding kits on ebay ( but man, this is decades ago ;))

Ok,I saw this post and couldn't resist,
I have tons of experience on this.I can tell you that your best bet is to buy a memory card with freemcboot on it (1.8b I think,If I remember there's some issues with 1.8c).I imagine there's many on ebay for pretty cheap. The installer is very readily available online but the thing is you wont be able to install it easilly on another card without having a card with it already on it in slot1.You have to be able to run the.elf file from ulaunchelf. The way I originally did it was I was given a fat ps2 that someone case modded so it opened on the top so you could disc swap.I had to find a 007 agent under fire disc and copy the disc and mod a couple files with an app called apache I believe, then burn it,then you have to play it until the 2nd level and either automatically creates a game save or you save(can't remember),then you swap discs at the menu and the disc you modified will load ulaunchelf then run the freemcboot installer from usb.But that's how I did it to begin with. Now that I have it on a few memory cards,no need for the old fat case modded ps2.(I always keep at least one card put up)Just have one memory card with it on it in slot 1 and the card you want to mod in slot 2,run the installer from ulaunchelf. Works on every model of PS2 I've tried and it's way easier. You'll need to patch your game .iso's with esr disc patcher then burn with whatever burning app you use, imgburn, nero, etc. You can run a few emulators on it too and you could use a harddrive to load the games instead of burning tons of disks if you have an extra usb hard drive or it's a fat PS2 with a hard drive. Hardmodding is also an option, prolly some more features or options. Also another option if your pc is decent the ps2 emulator runs pretty well.I've been messing with it for awhile too. There's always that route. Some games have issues on it though. Also no disc patching is necessary to play them on the ps2 emulator. Here's some more useful sites
Sks Apps for all your PS2 apps
    Cool Rom
    Emuparidise

Forgot to add,you don't have to do anything at all to the PS2 or install anything if you have a memory card with freemcboot on it.They work in any PS2.You just patch the iso's and burn them. When you put the disc in an esr screen pops up on the PS2

If you have a decent graphics card and a good 3Ghz+ 4core CPU you could also play on PSCX2 (+ you can even get full HD depending on your specs)

It's been about 10 years since I tried emulating PS2 on a PC. Nice to hear it's actually possible now.

Just know that it is indeed possible, and be extremely accurate following directions and you'll get it. Things like this take forever to learn, but once you understand how to do it you'll be able to do it to anyones PS2 in a matter of minutes. Haha.

    Good luck.

Also, just so you know, if you have a Wii available, they are super easy to softmod and you'll be able to play all kinds of games on them. Just not PS2 games unfortunately.

+1 for using a ps2 emulator. I use almost every kind of emulator ever created (except for the Xbox emu) and they all work more than fine on my low spec pc. My fav is the projectN64 emulator. I still and will always play the hell out of Conquer's Bad Fur Day. I plan to teach my kids how to play it far into the future.

Also I play all of my emulators with my ps3 controller. Makes it So much easier. It is kind of confusing to play N64 games some times but the irony is more than enough to keep me at it.

You know what I'm gonna hop on my Sega emu right now and play Streets of Rage!!!!!

@Gerald: You should check out Hyperspin if you have the space for it.

Somewhat easy to set up for Mame and Nintendo stuff. You might have to "donate" like $20 to get access to their FTP server for ALL the art work beyond Mame and Nintendo Games, but it's a truly sleek setup like none other.

The method that Levitate posted is probably the easiest method of doing so. They wont just make a system that plays burned discs out of the box. You gotta trick the system into thinking it's playing a legit copy of the game.

Grrrrrrrrreat thread guys and gals!

I have 2 boys, 14 and 6 years old, who love everything..... EVERYTHING console.

They own a PS2, a Wii, a 360, etc, so I slave away doing what I can, via our online communities, to serve their gaming desires. This mostly entails DLing PC games, BUT, to have access to Wii and PS2 games......?

    G E N I U S ! ! !

In response to DJ RADU`s "no easy way" comment: If it`s worthwhile having, it sure as fook is worthwhile working for! I will hand over all links to my boys and KNOW that whilst playing, they are learning some incredibly useful computing knowledge. Now that right there is what I call a double pay off! SCHAWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! :mates:
