    every daw is different. why not use 2 daws together? for example back in 2014 i used reasons combinator for lead sounds and imported the audio files into cubase.. no wrong no right

    also.. somewhere in 2008 i used REWIRE in Fl studio

    i think i mean something different. skill is not the same as ability.

    you will be able to produce in atmos when a program has that feature where another one has not. but that doesnt mean you suddenly have the skills to do that.

    you can not buy intgelligence, experience or raise your coolness factor by downloading warez (or byung a luxury car for that matter)

    you can have skills and no tool at all at your hand - and you will still have the skills. and the other way round.

    for example i know how to prepare potatoes in the best possible way, but i do not have a high pressure steamer at home.

    and i have great CAD software installed, but i have no clue how to properly use it. and no experience either, because i never really used it.

    Production knowledge and practicing can only boost your producer skills, but a daw can only improve your workflow and inspire you.

    I think it's fun. It's like exploring in a dungeon crawler, an audio related adventure so to speak. Every now and then I install some Linux distro on my old notebook. Just out of curiosity how it looks and feels. There is nothing wrong with joyfully playing around.

    It could, it depends. You will most likely get greater benefit out of it the greater the difference it is to the DAW you're used to

    You pretty much have 3 major subjects in each DAW. Concepts, Features, and Functions. Concepts being the bigger picture audio items, and the apply to every DAW you might use. Features meaning things like Plugins, Mixer, Piano Roll, Step Sequencer, Virtual Instruments, and so on.
    And then Functions are all the details of the workflow inside each of those Features.

    When you switch to a new DAW, almost everything new you will learn will be about Functions. What keyboard shortcut does one thing, which tools do specific things, like pencil tool vs marquee tool. Nuanced details that are specific to only that one DAW. The mechanics of each one, and the various different names they all use for close to identical things. They are all much closer than the developers would like you to believe.

    I used FL -> Ableton -> Bitwig -> Ableton -> Studio One

    I think it's always fun to lean something new. Most of the time you're not just learning only the DAW but also another useful things.
