    Dear Mr. Dule -

In the latest Reaper version, Win 11, whenever I put an instance of this version of Kontakt 8 on a track, and the try to take Kontakt 8 out of the track (delete or remove it) I get a big empty white box which just stops responding and when I try to close that empty white box, it crashes Reaper altogether.

Your previous version of Kontakt 8.0.1 worked fine.

Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

it uses exactly the same patch. activation has no effect on closing or moving. check with original KONTAKT PLAYER or from an administrator account. clean the DAW cache if you used another activation method. kontakt tries to write the last used library to the registry on closing, without administrator rights, REAPER crashes.

    Dear Mr. Dule -

I am sorry. I do not understand.

I "only" use your versions. What "same fix" are you referring to?

Are you saying I need to run Reaper from admin?

"It use exactlly the same fix."

The same process to deliver 8.1.0 is also used in 8.0.1, installation/activation has nothing to do with whether you close or move Bobdule Kontakt (*BDK) 8.1.0...check your system health/cleanliness instead.

"Check with the original player or from an admin account."

Double-check your work by trying unpatched *BDK, or maybe you are on a guest account, not allowing all permissions/patches to be enforced during install."

"Clean the DAW cache if you crossed *BDK activation versions."

If you installed 8.1.0 on top of 8.0.1, you may have mingled activations together, possibly causing conflict. Try cleaning the cache of Reaper to remedy this.

    1. This is a rough translation by me. As an international forum, the best/brightest hail from all over the world, and English is usually not the first language spoken by many.

As an American language only vet of many, many hard to follow install instructions and conversations, the English translations are quite good here despite sometimes needing a little...'more' interpretation. At that point you have to start thinking outside the box to catch the true meaning.

When faced with a new *BDK version, I save my presets (Millions), and nuke everything. Clean reg/hunt down old files, and Bleachbit everything...now it's a clean install path.

I always install BDK from scratch and let the *BDK Button finish up the libs install.

    *Bobdule Kontakt

**I'm not sure that particular interpretation is correct.

    Good Luck!

    Dear Mr. Dule -

I call you "Mr.", due to the high level of respect which you deserve. You have clearly allowed a large measure of Joy, and Happiness to flourish, for many musicians.

I realize English is not your first language. It means naught. Only adds to your intelligence!

Your solution worked perfectly, as I suspected it would.

    Thank you! You are appreciated!

    i post edited my franglish.

if you change the activation method, from one version to another, it will create one or more crashes when opening. because common files (the database) will be re-encrypted differently. this is characteristic of this software, you should avoid changing or using several versions at the same time. and sometimes launch 3 times before a successful opening, which will remain stable as long as you do not change the activation. this is a subtlety to know. it also varies with workstation and the plugin cache. you sometimes have to insist to put everything back in place, launching until a successful opening.

    Dear Mr. Dule -

Further to our conversation and the situation with Kontakt 8.1.

Cleaning things up between 8.0.1 and 8.1 helped, but now I notice that when I replace the Quick Load folder (from its backup), the problem of being able to remove, or unload an instance of Kontakt 8.1, with it crashing Reaper, returns.

As soon as I remove all content from the Quick Load folder, all returns to normal. It's as if the Quick Load content is somehow causing the issue. (If I load something from the Quick Load libraries from my desktop, no problem appears.)

    Any thoughts, please?

what about rebuild the database after the quickload import?
or launch the standalone first to take and write the change on close. if reaper fail on administrative access to regedit.

    Again, probably my ignoarance.

I trashed the whole Kontakt 8 folder to rebuild, so the Quick Load was there to begin with.

I'll try putting Quick Load back and open the standalone first (which I think I always do, based your previous suggestion).

The only Kontakt Teacher, Kontakt Guru, this simple musician has ever had is Mr. Bob Dule.

    Dule Rules!

    Mr. Dule,

I have a question for you. A few weeks ago, I installed your version of Kontakt 8.0.1 on my system and the .AAX showed up in Pro Tools. When you released 8.1.0, I installed that and there's no .AAX showing in Pro Tools, so I uninstalled it and tried to go back to 8.0.1 and now I can't get Kontakt to show back up in Pro Tools.

Do you have any idea what is happening here?

I'll be sure to buy you a beer.

if you installed the portable, it take the hand on Kontakt instance and hide the setup version.
it need to manage the portable shortcut (place it anywhere else)

you can also rebuild the plugins list from start (backup first and delete)
    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Avid\Pro Tools\InstalledAAXPlugIns
    to force a new scan.
if it crash at launch, delete the conflictual plugins until PT open.

it will only works in ProTools 12.5.0 Audio Utopia. other version will never take patched aax.

  14. Hi, I have been advised to get in touch with you regarding Kontakt 8.1.0 (Mac) and Kontakt Library Utility 2.4.0

I have downloaded 8.1.0 and tried to add libraries to it using the latest library utility but they just are not showing up. I don't know whether this is something that is a problem plaguing other users or it could be something to do with my Mac, but I've never had an issue before in the past with this.

For the record, I am on Sequoia
