    Here are my suggestions, every beginning is difficult:

    Hardware :
    - Access Virus TI2 --> www.virus.info/virusti/overview
    - Roland Fantom-06 --> www.roland.com/de/products/fantom-06/

    Software:
    - Reveal Sound - Spire VSTi
    - Xfer Records - Serum VSTi
    - Sonic Academy - ANA2 VSTi
    - LennarDigital - Sylenth1

    - Blamsoft - VK-1 Viking Synthesizer VSTi - Free

    Novation synths are very solid and still good gets, but they were all over the shop around the millennium.

    Look for an used Supernova II or Mininova or something, depending on what you want. Knob-twiddlidy goodness!

    May I ask why you are looking for hardware synth in the first place (assuming you do so...)?
    Because for me it depends on your goals. Are you looking for a specific sound? Workflow? Want to learn synthesis? Want to spend some money just because?

    I don't want to start a discussion about hardware vs. software. If your goal is just to be able to produce great sounding pop, 90s or trance music you might already have all you need gear-wise.

    His/her goal is to waste time, with no offense meant. The OP has opened enough threads about synthesizers and has got a ton of detailed replies but keeps opening more threads now admitting
    Which is of course as vague as it gets, because you either understand how synths work or you don't. More or less, soft or hardware they 're 99% much too similar. And all this time with all these threads if the OP sat down and read one effin manual from start to end of one major soft synth and actually practice what they read, they would know synths after all this time. It's not rocket science.
    So, the OP was suggested half the hardware synths and any soft imaginable, which is only logical as it all boils down to personal taste and type of use. But instead of doing the research like going to a store and play that gear, OP likes to open more threads with similar subjects.
    Therefore i refuse to spend more time answering this, it's starting to get ridiculous hehe.
    Cheers

    Yeah it seems 90% of people like to talk about making music, the other 10% like to actually do it.
