The Arturia bmp Folder have 8.640 files, 260 folders, I think this is a negative record.
At least Arturia plugins are stable and 4K monitor usable and hat scaled!

Back then, Arturia sent a box through the mail. 1 DVD, a customer card and a thick 3-language manual.Today, everything is online as a download and PDF!

Because they didn't want an interface that scales, they wanted it picture perfect at resolutions up to 5K. Why, is it drama? IDK, doesn't affect my life. I have tons of storage, and storage is cheap.

 

Not the Hammond, it's utter garbage. But I do like the combo organs, definitely.

 

But some users are very sensitive about it - whether for no reason or not - it doesn't bother me, like you.

"Buchla easel": the scope and complexity of sounds is amazing, plus full of clever tweak possibilities!
Try them all, you will discover which one works best for you and the sounds you are looking for, these aspects tend to be personal.

Arturia puts a lot of effort on their presentation, more so than other devs IMO. Not to say it looks better than other stuff, but their presentation is very important to them, so they chose form over efficiency. (like Spitfire Audio and their bespoke Spitfire Player!)

 

It's fairly minor grievance for me, nothing big. But loading a project with a lot of their plugins definitely sees increase in loading times unless the plugins live on a fast drive, a speedy SSD or a NVMe disk and one can feel the difference. And all those image files tend to needlessly eat up free space.

Their call really, would be hard work to convert them to nicely resizable OpenGL GUIs so I guess that's why it's not changing anytime soon.

There are some old Kontakt libraries that use uncompressed Targa files still, so it's not just them.

 

I like most of their FX plugins, and the synths are all ok but it's a really bloated install for stuff I'm not going to use. I like Acid V, and I think they may have done their nicest job yet on the ARP2600. The Vocoder is nice, but you really have to dig in a bit to make it worth screwing around with. It does not seem like it was designed with your workflow in mind.

I have also used many worse emulations of the same synths from other developers.

 

Arturia is bloated for sure, but i couldn't find any other storage friend alternative for the classic keys. And i'm not entering the rabbit hole for A/B'ing synths because there are many of them. I think it's a nice overall bundle and collection and that's why i stick with them.

 

In my opinion with the full V Collection running through Analog Lab it's genuinely one of the most versatile synth(s) on earth. And sure, it takes a lot of space, but if you love the quirky sounds and idiosyncrasies of dozens of old synths packed in a really awesome little box then it's really in a league of its own.

 

agreed. while i bashed on the similarity of the analog emulations, analog lab is just awesome. especially when paired with one of their midi controllers.

 

I don’t like the Arturia signature sound which I would describe as hollow and thin.
That said, the Mini and synclavier are the only ones I keep using as a legit owner of the bundle.

 

did you compare it to the softube one ?

 

Model 72 SPANKS Arturia. And I don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to disable a million different modulations and routings that the original never even had anyway.

also the minifreak v that is now in the bundle is really a nice quirky synth, some do not like it, but I really do. In factit is in my top 3 from artura I think. Next to the sq80.
Lots of different osc styles and just weird all together with its gui/engine, lfo's and envs are not standard applied here, but that is what makes it cool.
