    Hello all!

I have been on the mac side of things for over a decade now and im now in the market for a new laptop PC.

can anyone recommend a solid Laptop with specs such as-
    32GB min of ram
4Tb sdd (or the ability to upgrade to a 4TB SSD with an additional SSD bay)
    Intel or AMD is OK
    Must have a 10 key

    My budget is $2000.

Is this a realistic price for PCs these days? If not please let me know.

Any brands/models or websites for browsing high end PCs would be greatly appreciated. Ever since I converted to mac all the old places I used to go for PCs are non-existent.
Also, is there a big difference between intel vs. AMD these days? Or are both comparable to each other?

thank you for your time and efforts!

    cheers

Since you know exacterly what you want for that amount of money I'd say try and find somewhere that does custom builds.

If you where in the UK I'd recommend https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/custom-laptops/

Unfortunatly they don't do the USA, I'm guessing thats where you are since you're using $

If these are your requirements, my ASUS ROG Strix GL503GE from about 5 years ago meet this spec with a Core i7-8750H CPU, 32GB RAM, 2TB NVMe OS drive, and 4TB SSD data drive (RAM and drives upgraded by myself), all with full number pad keys. Therefore, for $2,000, you should be able to get the most current equivalent (ASUS ROG Strix G16) and I'm sure there'll be a variant with the specs, or you could just buy a older or used one and save some dollars.

if windows notebook, avoid any office notebooks. For example Thinkbooks. They cheapened out on the material and the cooling. I hate mine.
The case seems to be out of plastic, it heats up so much, providing no good passive cooling solution. There times, where i couldnt touch the keys on a hot summer day, the CPU was sufficient cooled, but everything else didnt give up the heat it was holding.

avoid intel, the performance is just not there for the cheaper models. AMD has these Mobile Ryzens, they are crazy powerful.

    gl!
