My bedroom is made out of sheet rock, and has that white textured paint. I'm wondering what other people have done to hang their panels, with reducing the damage to the walls. Right now I'm thinking of just treating it like I'm hanging a picture on the wall.

 

sheet rock, I think that is known as plasterboard over here in the uk? if there is a cavity behind then you can get special plugs that allow you to drill a hole and place screws/hooks into the plug, mind you heavy duty double sided sticky pads (permanent sticky type) may work, (if using foam panels) you may need quite a few though

Just got done doing this, got 2' x 4' sheets of tack board from Home Depot, used wood glue to glue Auralex panels onto it, and then put pads of neoprene on the back, and then just hung it like a picture. Worked great. You can also use T-Pins, they work really well too, just a little more tedious

I'm going to do the same (post pictures that is) when I'm all done. Right now I'm almost done saving up for the Roxul 80 insulation to make the acoustic clouds over my mix position and also some custom inserts for my sliding glass door and windows to block out the outside noise. Like we say at work, "almost done, the only thing left is to do it!"

 

Borrow a stud finder to find the studs behind your wall and screw into them, studs are spaced 16" apart (atleast thats the code in Canada).
