music is art. art results from a creative process, most often conscious. i agree with the philosophy of art as described by the frankfurt school of philosophy.

I prefer a band recorded in a garage than a generated hit patterned on contemporary “moder metal” or Taylor Swift level pop

    True, but...

Music always searched for us. Always. It just searched for us by different ways and different means.

We still have to (may, can etc.) search for music in music that searches for us. Not all music is good (for me, for you...). We still have to choose music we like.

True, and I see great potential in generative AI composing music fine-tuned to your personal taste, after somehow showing it your favorite songs and what you like best in them.

AI is coming anyway, especially since you can earn a lot of money with it. Would I ever buy AI? It depends on the product, nothing has convinced me so far. There will certainly be more robots in the future and they will take over more of the space, they will complement and partly replace people. We are in the middle of development and as a musician I am very happy with what we have achieved so far. Many untalented people will want song structures or even complete songs from the AI, which probably kills creativity. I still decide what goes on my PC, and that is how it should stay.

Music can be art. There's no guarantee that it actually is.

I’m not worried about it, no one wants it. I couldn’t care less about it.
